POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position: Senior Engineering Manager Drivetrain Systems

Department: SCD - Engineering

Type of position: Exempt

Reports to: Director of Engineering

Number of direct reports: 5 to 7

JOB SUMMARY:

This Senior Engineering Manager Drivetrain Systems, plays a key role in our global engineering organization, supporting both business and product strategy, managing our Drivetrain Systems product engineering team. The role allows the ideal candidate to exercise expertise in Drivetrain systems, ownership of innovation roadmaps, and ownership, from concept to obsolescence, of products within our portfolio.

The Senior Engineering Manager, Drivetrain Systems, at Stoneridge will participate in:
  • Analysis of current and future system level Customer and market interactions which enable Stoneridge to be recognized as a world class supplier of Drivetrain mechatronic solutions.
  • Drive the creation and protection of IP related to their systems
  • Budget creation, execution, and reporting
  • Creation of development plans for their team
  • Driving efficiency improvements in their teams and products
  • Identifying and executing warranty reduction projects related to their systems
  • Ensuring product launches and changes are executed on time using the Stoneridge identified processes.
  • Development of innovation roadmap for Stoneridge drivetrain systems.


PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Budget development, execution, and forecasting
  • Talent development, recruiting, and driving results
  • New business development
  • Developing, and maintaining customer technical contacts
  • Identifying and securing new system application opportunities
  • Understanding customer and market trends for Stoneridge Drivetrain systems design requirements.
  • Driving continuous improvement in their systems through focus areas such as VAVE, warranty reduction, and obsolescence planning
  • Driving continuous improvement in engineering talent through recruiting practices, managing expectations, driving for results, and targeted training for core competencies
  • Identifying and maintaining competencies which set Stoneridge apart from our competitors


EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:
  • BS in an engineering discipline is required, MSEE, MSME, or MBA preferred
  • Subject Matter Expert for Stoneridge products in drivetrain systems.
  • Understand and document regulatory requirements effecting exterior and interior system design requirements.
  • Understand and document customer and industry trends for Stoneridge drivetrain systems.
  • Minimum 8 years of technical leadership and management experience leading global teams.
  • Must be self-motivated, a fast learner, and a strong problem solver.
  • Innovative spirit and collaborative team member.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Available for travel as required to meet Stoneridge objectives.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, start-up culture.
  • Comfortable with expectations of excellence in level of productivity and quality of work.


LOCATION AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Able to travel internationally, including Asia Pacific Region
  • up to 25% travel may be required to meet the needs of the business
