POSITION SUMMARY/PURPOSE

Under the direction of the President, the Sr. Human Resources Director is responsible for recruitment, training, compensation & benefits administration, Workers' and Unemployment Compensation, employee relations and employment and labor law compliance. The incumbent counsels and advises management on employment-related legal, personnel and performance issues, including discipline, employee development and succession planning.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Manages and directs all human resource processes including recruitment/selection/hiring & retention strategies.

Ensures compliance with Department of Labor regulations & state/federal employment laws.

Directs and supervises the development and proper administration of all compensation, performance evaluation and benefit programs.

Provides oversight on organizational development projects including employee surveys, employee run committees and organizational health and wellness.

Implements programs designed to maintain effective employee relations to enhance productivity and employee morale.

Create and publish personnel policies/handbooks, maintains personnel records.

Educates leadership team to personnel policies and enforcement of such

Directs new hire onboarding process including pre-employment activities, compliance related items and new employee orientation.

Respond to legal challenges and conducts supervisory training designed to avoid legal challenges.

Interpret internal policies and government HR regulations and keep current on state and federal laws and trends.

Oversee the processing of new hires, authorize drug screenings and background checks, and conduct employee orientations.

Identifies leadership educational needs as it relates to Human Resource topics and develops an educational plan to address

Manage the compilation of required data for Affirmative Action, HIPAA, OSHA and EEO reporting requirements.

Create employee relations programs, training and special projects as directed.

Advises organizational leadership on matters of organizational culture, employee engagement, workforce issues and overall employee satisfaction.

Perform other related duties as required.

RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

Work collaboratively with CFO on budget preparation and expense management. Control operating expenses in compliance with budget. Provide continuous analysis and reports on variations from established budgets.

Responsible for the planning and preparation of revenue and expense projections covering all financial and human resource costs consumed by assigned areas including, capital equipment, operating budgets, personnel budgets and other expenses. Monitors and regulates all expenditures to achieve established budgetary goals.

Plan, organize and direct work of subordinate unit; define expectations and deliverables; establish procedures, practices, and standards; hire staff appropriate to the position; monitor deliverables and productivity; identify and address deficiencies.

Recommend, implement, and communicate operating policies and procedures to all subordinates on an on-going basis.

Through collaboration, develop and recommend best practices; oversee implementation of practices and programs. Identify and recommend opportunities for improvement of services provided. Encourage positive response to new opportunities, new technology and changes in not-for-profit.

STAFF MANAGEMENT

Sets high but attainable standards and demanding expectations for self and subordinates to continuously challenge the current standards. Develop performance plans for all direct reports.

Provide individual and business unit performance feedback to subordinates on a regular and timely basis through day to day conversation and formal performance reviews in accordance with Easterseals guidelines.

Responsible for establishing a "Team" culture and using a variety of motivational techniques to encourage ownership of staff in the business.

Recommend compensation actions consistent with organizational guidelines.

The incumbents are expected, in consultation with Human Resources, to address and resolve employee relations' issues in a timely manner and institute appropriate measures to correct issues.

Provides training consistent with current and future job requirements. Function as mentor/preceptor for staff members through lectures, hands-on demonstrations, and coaching. Foster an environment conducive to on-going learning and education.

EDUCATION

Minimum of BS Degree in business administration, human resource management, organizational development or a related field.

EXPERIENCE

A minimum of 10 years hands-on experience in all aspects of human resources, with a minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in the field. SHRM Certification preferred.
