Sr Infrastructure Engineer

Summary

The Senior Infrastructure Engineer is a critical role in our IT Infrastructure. This person sets the design of our organization's Infrastructure systems, applications, and policies. Manages the development of scalable architecture to support applications and infrastructure on the platforms, leading the evaluation process to select, implement, and maintain the best solutions and designs for the organization and its future.

Functions

• Oversee cloud and server infrastructure design and develop detailed architecture models for the client to host test, development, and production environments
• Plan for system and application migration(s) to the cloud, adhering to the organization's technical and business requirements
• Develop and document technical designs for integration and implementation of new infrastructure applications and systems
• Optimize cost of cloud solutions by identifying waste and automating cost management
• Communicate effectively through strong written and oral communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
• Integrate with non-cloud technologies and third-party vendor products/services
• Assess emerging technologies, stay abreast of industry trends, and give advice on investments prices versus performance
• Develop and plan highly available and fault-tolerant enterprise and web-scale software deployments
• Capture and share best-practice knowledge amongst the technology community.
• Ensures compliance of architectural and engineering policies, standards, and procedures.
• Serve as Infrastructure SME for senior business and technology stakeholders.
• Work closely with developer teams to create an automated CI/CD pipeline.
• Deliver end-to-end automation of deployment, monitoring and infrastructure management in the cloud environment.
• Mentor other members of the IT Infrastructure team.
• All other duties as assigned.

Education

• BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Information Technology or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in an infrastructure or similar operating environment; complexity, size and scope.

Required Skills

• Experience with one or more of the following: Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, VMware, Hyper-V, KVM, XEN
• Microsoft Windows Server platforms
• Experience with Enterprise Architecture and Designs
• Experience with Servers, Infrastructure, Platform Sizing, Infrastructure Cost Reduction
• AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, DevOps Engineer, MCP, MCSA, MCSE, or other equivalent certifications
• Applies strong leadership skills that can energize work teams to respond to business needs.
