Job Summary:

NEPC is looking for a Sr. Investment Analyst to join our Credit & Diversifying Strategies team. The Credit & Diversifying Strategies team covers credit, fixed income, hedge funds including hedge fund of funds, GTAA, risk parity, etc. The team is responsible for investment manager research and identifying investment solutions that fit the specific needs of our clients. This position will work across the various asset classes supporting the Directors on the team.

The Credit & Diversifying Strategies team works closely with both the larger Marketable Research team as well as the entire Research team at NEPC.
Key Responsibilities:

The primary responsibility for this role is to build and maintain knowledge of institutional strategies by conducting investment manager research for various credit asset classes (credit, fixed income, hedge funds, etc. This person will be responsible for strategy coverage, meeting notes, and research as well as client-related projects. In addition, they will be expected to support other senior members of the team as required.
  • Support quantitative due diligence efforts on existing and new investment strategies specifically utilizing Excel and Bloomberg to generate analytics. Use data to develop peer group/comparison analysis.
  • Support qualitative due diligence efforts on existing and new funds by supporting preparation of Investment Due Diligence Summaries and Onsite reports.
  • Follow up with fund managers for performance data and analyze quarterly performance.
  • Build databases to analyze managers underlying various products.
  • Attend meetings with fund managers and provide written documentation of all pertinent information gathered from the meetings as well as an opinion/recommendation of manager.
  • Use internal CRM and other tools to develop various exposure statistics.
  • Support portfolio construction/ manager search efforts for investment portfolios.
  • Support research for white paper/topical studies.
  • Analyze RFPs and help with public manager searches. Maintain accurate, up-to-date internal records on the status of the data for each manager.
  • Job Qualifications:

    Candidates for this position will most likely be serving in a comparable role at a plan sponsor, investment manager or consulting firm specializing in multi-asset investments (Credit, Fixed Income, Hedge Funds, GTAA, Risk Parity, Fund of Hedge Funds, etc.). In depth knowledge with some or all of the asset classes list is required (does not need to be all), along with experience with manager and fund selection. Highly developed computer skills and proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint is required. Qualified individuals must be comfortable with quantitative analysis, have outstanding writing skills and be comfortable with creating and giving professional oral presentations to colleagues and clients. Experience with FactSet RMS and TIBCO Spotfire is a plus. Must be detail oriented and able to work independently in a fast-paced, multiple-task environment.

    A college degree is required; advanced degrees and/or the CAIA designation or CFA designation (or progress toward these credentials) is a plus. A willingness and ability to travel is required. It is expected that this individual be a team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
