As a Senior IT Engineer, you'll work with cutting-edge technologies to ensure efficiency, security, and operational excellence. We are looking for a self-motivated, detail-oriented professional with strong organizational and communication skills who thrives both independently and as part of matrixed project teams.

Responsibilities

Systems Administration and Support
  • Administer and monitor Windows and Linux environments, both on-premises and cloud-based.
  • Manage Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, group policies, and multi-site, multi-forest configurations.
  • Maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions for infrastructure and endpoints.
  • Share responsibilities for administration, maintenance, monitoring, and optimization of VMware environments, including guest OS, vSphere , virtual SAN infrastructure.
  • Create and manage virtual machines (VMs) with Windows and RHEL operating systems, ensuring proper configuration, deployment, and performance.
  • Install, configure, and maintain third-party applications to ensure compatibility, performance, and security across the IT environment.
  • Provide remote and on-site support for systems deployed at different data centers.

Automation and Optimization
  • Automate patch management, software deployment, and corporate application installations.
  • Streamline repetitive tasks using PowerShell, Unix Shell, Python, or similar scripting tools.
  • Monitor and manage compliance with system patching policies, coordinating maintenance activities through ServiceNow.

Project Leadership and Collaboration
  • Lead and participate in cross-functional teams to design, implement, and support new systems and technologies.
  • Research and evaluate emerging technology trends, creating business cases for their adoption.
  • Participate in disaster recovery and continuity of operations planning, with regular testing and documentation updates.

Documentation and Reporting
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation of the environment, updating ITSM tools as changes are made.
  • Develop and follow standard operating procedures and checklists to ensure consistent performance.
  • Provide outage after-action reports, including root cause analysis and remediation tasks.

Other Responsibilities
  • Work on multiple concurrent projects, prioritizing and completing tasks effectively.
  • Respond to escalations from the Help Desk team and ensure timely resolution.
  • Share after-hours on-call rotational duties with the team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Knowledge

Core Technical Skills
  • Expertise in VMware vSphere and related tools like vRealize and RecoverPoint
  • Expertise in Windows Server (2016, 2019, 2022, and 2024), Linux distributions (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu), and Windows desktop environments (Windows 10 and later).
  • Experience creating and managing virtual machines with Windows and RHEL operating systems.
  • Proven ability to install, configure, and maintain third-party applications in a secure and efficient manner.
  • Experience with application package creation, software patching, deployment, and compliance reporting.

Security and Compliance
  • Strong understanding of network security and system hardening practices.
  • Experience implementing IAVA patches and managing antivirus/malware solutions.

Other Skills
  • Scripting and automation using PowerShell, Unix Shell, Python, or similar tools.
  • Strong documentation and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to manage and lead matrixed teams effectively.
  • Familiarity with ITSM functions, preferably ServiceNow
  • Strong working knowledge of Azure (GCC-H preferred) and MFA tools such as RSA, DUO and Okta.

Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience with IT infrastructure, system operations, and administration.
  • Industry certifications (e.g., VMware VCP, Microsoft MCSE, RHCSA) are highly desirable.
  • Prior experience in the telecom industry is a plus.
  • Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
