Join Numerator as a Senior IT Systems Engineer in our downtown Chicago office and take ownership of maintaining and optimizing our essential information systems and related services. This hybrid position provides an engaging work structure with three days in the office for collaboration and two days of remote work for focused tasks. You will manage the upkeep of workstations and peripherals, cloud phone systems, desktop software, and video conferencing systems. Your expertise in cloud-based backup solutions, efficient patch management for Windows and macOS, and SaaS-based helpdesk management will be key to ensuring our operational efficiency. Your exceptional troubleshooting abilities will empower our internal users through effective support and training, contributing directly to the successful completion of key projects.

What you'll do:
  • Setup and maintain workstation hardware and software; configure printers, scanners, and other PC peripherals; maintain IT equipment in office common areas and conference rooms.
  • Perform software updates, patches, and license monitoring; develop and execute patch management strategies for Windows and macOS environments, ensuring systems are secure and up-to-date.
  • Ensure backups are successful and perform restorations as needed; implement and manage cloud-based backup and recovery solutions to ensure data integrity and business continuity.
  • Monitor for and respond to end user security incidents.
  • Assist users with desktop support; provide comprehensive technical support and training to internal users on various IT systems and applications; leverage excellent troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve complex hardware and software issues for end-users.
  • Open and maintain Help Desk tickets; follow up with users to ensure issue has been resolved; administer and optimize our SaaS-based helpdesk system to streamline support workflows and enhance user experience.
  • Gain feedback from users about computer performance.

Create and maintain documentation.

Skills & Requirements
  • Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Windows 7,8,10, 11
  • Knowledge of Mac OS and Microsoft Server OS's, Linux is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Python and PowerShell.
  • Must have an understanding of Active Directory.
  • Must have intermediate knowledge of network devices
  • Must have a strong general knowledge of IT systems, security, servers, firewalls, and all things Microsoft
  • Experience with Office 2021 and Office 365
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair hardware & software
  • Strong verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to self-start, learn quickly, and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently
  • Flexibility and willingness to work as part of a team


Nice to Haves:
  • Audio/Video Support
  • Azure or AWS Certification
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science is preferred or equivalent work experience with a minimum of 3 to 4 years of experience. Microsoft Certification is a plus.
