Job Summary
The Sr. Manager - Compensation drives the strategic implementation of compensation initiatives across the City of Dallas. This role ensures fair and equitable compensation practices while aligning any compensation focused workforce planning efforts with organizational goals.
Job Description
Essential Functions:
Compensation:
Design and administer salary structures, short-term incentive programs, job evaluations, and market data analysis to support fair compensation practices. Develop and implement compensation frameworks, including job architectures, levels, and salary bands. Configure and integrate compensation processes within Workday, ensuring effective job management, salary structures, and software updates. Lead a team of analysts, collaborating with HR to implement and communicate compensation plans effectively. Monitor, track, and publish compensation metrics to ensure high-quality support and maintain competitive positioning. Streamline performance and compensation analytics processes to drive city strategies and objectives. Conduct market studies and internal audits to support competitive compensation recommendations. Serve as a consultant to departments on compensation programs, providing guidance and training as needed. Generate reports to support departmental and management decision-making. Collaborate with Budget on large scale potential
compensation initiatives that may have significant budget impact.
Knowledge and Skills:
Expertise in designing, implementing, and maintaining compensation structures. Proficiency in job analyses, audits, and identifying job-related skills and abilities. Understanding of Federal, State, and local laws governing classification and compensation. Ability to interpret and apply office policies and procedures with discretion. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word. Creative problem-solving skills for efficient task completion. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Ability to prepare clear, concise, and comprehensive reports. Effective project management and communication skills. Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Strong relationship-building and collaboration skills.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business/Public Administration, or a related field.
EXPERIENCE:
- Four (4) years of professional experience in compensation and job analysis/evaluation
- Two (2) years of management/supervisory experience (can be included in overall required experience).
EQUIVALENCIES:
- High school diploma/GED plus eight (8) years of required experience (including supervisory experience).
- Associate degree plus six (6) years of required experience (including supervisory experience).
- Bachelor's degree in a non-specified field plus six (6) years of required experience (including supervisory experience).
- Master's degree in a specified field plus two (2) years of required experience (including supervisory experience).
LICENSES:
- Valid driver's license and good driving record.
Salary Range
$93,914.91 - $117,393.63
