Overview

THE ROLE:
Provide support to Sr Director, US Plant Operations Finance in the cost accounting and financial reporting area. The primary responsibilities are to lead all aspects of the cost system, inventory valuation, physical and cycle counts, to lead effort to develop budgets and forecasts, to develop, report and analyze performance metrics. Also, responsible for managing the Financial integration of HIM-VA. Directly responsible for standard setting, product costing and analysis, including understanding the elements of cost, standardizing the costing process and calculating Gross Margin. Responsible for reviewing manufacturing variances including material yield, material usage, labor and overhead variances and determining root cause.

HOW YOU WOULD CONTRIBUTE:
Prepare all Request for Quotations (RFQ, product cost) as requested by the sourcing group on a timely basis.
Standardize the product costing process among different SKU and product types.
Develop a model to assign actual cost at the product level and compare to standard cost.
Responsible for the plant's operating budget process, preparing the plant's overhead and labor budgets, determining raw material and packaging material costs, calculating the cost impact of changes in raw material, labor rates and overhead spending.
Prepare monthly forecast and compare to the operating budget.
Assist in the preparation of the annual capital budget.
Provides management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products and services. Calculate the product gross margin percent within the corporate guidelines.
Build and prepare metrics to aid in measuring and improving the manufacturing and operations processes
Analyzes changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services provided, to determine effects on product costs
Prepare manufacturing performance reports and analysis e.g. PPV, material usage, plant utilization, efficiencies, costs per unit
Plans study and collects data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor
Lead presentations to local management team and executive management as the need arises
Interact with all levels of management including executive management
Assist in process and system upgrades and improvements
Interacts with other departments, such as Corporate Accounting, IT, Purchasing and Quality
Prepares special reports and assists in special projects as assigned by Management
Assist in training of newly hired accounting representatives
Demonstrates initiative in all aspects of Plant Accounting
Ability to work with tight deadlines and meet department goals
Communicates effectively and clearly in verbal and written form.

Job Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:
Skills:
Required
Proficient with PC skills including Windows, Excel and Word
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
Ability to read, analyze and interpret common financial reports, and legal documents.
Ability to effectively present information to top management
Ability to organize workload and multitask to meet deadlines
Carry out responsibilities with minimal direction
Ability to interact effectively at all levels with sensitivity to cultural diversity
Ability to adapt as the external environment and organization evolves.

Experience:
Required
5+ years manufacturing experience
8+ years prior cost accounting experience
Preferred
Prior supervisory experience
Experience in Oracle

Education:
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance or related field
Preferred
MBA Degree or CPA, CMA
