Schwab Asset Management (SAM) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Operations Analyst to join our Data Management Team. This role is crucial for ensuring the quality, integrity, accuracy, and availability of our core data assets, including reference data, security master data, and other critical datasets relevant to mutual funds, exchange traded funds, collective investment trusts, and separately managed accounts. The ideal candidate will leverage your deep understanding of data management principles and your experience in the asset management industry to optimize our data operations processes, enhance data quality, and contribute to the overall success of our data-driven initiatives to meet regulatory requirements. You will play a key role in developing and managing data standards and controls to ensure consistent, accurate and trusted data across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as the data steward for the security reference data and other key datasets. Execute daily operational processes in our Eagle PACE data management platform to ensure accurate, timely, and trusted data is available for regulatory and investment management functions.
  • Perform daily, monthly, and ad hoc processes to review exception reports and remediate issues for data loads of portfolio positions, transactions, and other data domains common for asset managers.
  • Apply in-depth knowledge of security master data (e.g. ISINs, CUSIPs, tickers) or reference data (e.g. entity, pricing, corporate actions).
  • Lead and manage the master data management (MDM) processes for all relevant investment data, including mutual funds, exchange traded funds, collective investment trusts, and separately managed accounts.
  • Oversee the onboarding and maintenance of security master data, ensuring accurate setup, updates, and controls.
  • Devise and implement data quality metrics to proactively identify, investigate, and resolve data quality issues within security master and other critical datasets.
  • Develop and enforce data validation checks, exception handling procedures to migrate data integrity risks.
  • Work with technology and business stakeholders across Schwab Asset Management to resolve complex data discrepancies and ensure corrective measures are implemented.
  • Partner with portfolio managers, compliance, operations, technology, and other departments to understand their data needs and ensure data solutions support business requirements.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on data-related topics for project teams, ensuring that data standards are upheld across initiatives.
  • Design, implement, and optimize data operations workflows and processes.
  • Communicate effectively with senior management and stakeholders to report on data quality, governance activities, and improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate with technology teams to support data integration, automation, and process improvements for better data management.
  • Engage in projects that help the team develop and implement data solutions that enable Schwab Asset Management to meet new and changing regulatory requirements.


What you have

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in data operations, with a focus on security or reference data within the financial services or data management industry.
  • In-depth and detailed experience working with security reference master data, with extensive working knowledge of master data management in mutual funds, exchange traded funds, collective investment trusts, and separately managed accounts and other data-related functions.
  • Experience performing setups and maintenance of securities.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, data profiling, and data quality tools is required.
  • Proven experience with data quality operations and reporting, using exception-driven resolution processes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Teams, SharePoint), JIRA, Confluence and Alteryx.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience using the Eagle PACE Data Management platform is preferred.
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented, with a commitment to data accuracy, quality, and compliance.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate complex data concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience partnering with technology support teams to identify and solve production issues.
  • Experience providing data-oriented metrics and key performance indicators.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
  • Proven ability to manage priorities and timelines.
