The Sr Manager, Operations Strategic Analysis plays a pivotal role in American Airlines' Operations Planning and Performance Division. You'll develop and communicate key performance metrics to stakeholders, leveraging data analytics tools to improve operational performance across a wide range of topics, from dependability metrics to turn event metrics.

Lead and manage a team responsible for analyzing and reporting all aspects of operational performance, ensuring comprehensive coverage of key metrics such as dependability (D0, T0, A0/A14) and turn event metrics (boarding and loading times)
Develop and communicate operational performance insights to senior leaders, including the Chief Operating Officer, providing strategic recommendations for improvement
Own and maintain performance metrics in corporate documents, including those presented to the Board of Directors, ensuring accuracy and alignment with organizational objectives
Drive deep-dive root cause analyses across departments (Stations, Crew, Maintenance, IOC) to identify operational challenges and guide the team to deliver actionable solutions for continuous performance improvement
Set clear, measurable operational goals for Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and hold the team accountable for achieving these objectives across both Mainline and Regional operations
Guide the team in translating complex data and analytics into strategic insights, partnering with operational leaders to develop and implement performance improvement plans
Serve as a key strategic resource within the organization, providing analytical support to cross-functional teams and empowering data-driven decision-making to enhance operational efficiency
Utilize advanced data analytics tools (SQL, Tableau, R, Python, Excel) to streamline processes, automate procedures, and ensure the integrity of operational models for improved decision-making
Mentor and develop a high-performance team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement aligned with organizational goals
Lead the development and execution of performance improvement initiatives, ensuring alignment with overall company strategy and driving operational excellence across the organization
All you'll need for success
Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
Bachelor's/ Master's degree in a quantitative field (e.g. mathematics, statistics, computer science, engineering)
7 years of experience in operations analysis, data analysis, or a related field
Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
Experience in the airline industry or a related field
Experience with data visualization tools, such as Tableau or Power BI
Experience with programming languages, such as R or Python
Skills, Licenses & Certifications
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Experience with data analytics tools, including SQL, Tableau, OPA, R and/or Python, and Excel
Strong communication and presentation skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and projects
Experience with data visualization tools, such as Tableau or Power BI (preferred)
Experience with programming languages, such as R or Python (preferred)
