The Senior Manager, Safety Training will play a pivotal role in American Airlines' Safety division. This Sr. Manager, will lead and oversee the airline's safety training programs, ensuring the highest standards of safety compliance across all operational areas. This individual will collaborate with operational leadership to drive environmental safety initiatives, manage hazardous waste programs, and ensure regulatory requirements are met. The role will involve developing and implementing safety policies, conducting training for supervisors and employees, and promoting a culture of safety and compliance across the organization.

Develop and implement safety policies, training programs, and campaigns to promote a culture of safety and compliance
Oversee Environmental and Hazardous Waste programs to ensure compliance with state, federal, and local regulations
Partner with operational leadership to drive continuous improvement initiatives and cost savings, ensuring safety considerations are met
Present safety-related information and statistics to leadership to support informed decision-making
Guide and mentor the Environmental and Learning and Development teams to support their professional growth and success
Ensure timely completion of regulatory documents, reports, and recordkeeping requirements
Lead the development and implementation of new training programs in response to policy changes and regulatory updates
Serve as an advocate for safety issues and participate in cross-functional projects aimed at enhancing safety protocols.
Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to foster collaboration on safety initiatives
Stay current with trends in instructional design and industry developments to ensure training programs are cutting-edge and effective
Travel up to 50% of the time and be available for various shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed

All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
Bachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent experience/ training in airline operations
7 years of related work experience
Previous supervisory and/or leadership experience required

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
Familiarity with the CFR including, but not limited to. 14 CFR Part 91, Part 121, Part 145, etc, and Environmental Regulations
Working knowledge of risk and organizational change management methodologies, safety leadership and continuous improvement
5+ years of experience developing and implementing safety-related programs in the aviation industry
Experience working with contract labor groups

Skills, Licenses & Certifications
Proficient with MS software (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
Excellent relationship building and maintaining skills
Relies on extensive experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals and projects
