The Sr. Materials Engineer will lead technical initiatives aimed at developing new or enhancing existing products and processes that have a significant impact on the company's success. This role offers the opportunity to take charge of key projects, driving innovation and improvement throughout the organization.

What you will be doing:
Create and/or Analyze Prototype Materials Formulations
Tailor analytical techniques to the needs of individual projects and materials and perform detailed experiments to evaluate polymer thermal, mechanical, and chemical properties
Specify formulations, process conditions, processing equipment, and specific test techniques in work instructions and test requests
Specify materials and additives vendors based on considerations of lead-time, costs, and performance
Integrate and Evaluate Materials Performance in Additive Manufacturing Systems
Correlate analytical, benchtop test results with material performance and part-level properties after printing
Specify printing process conditions needed to maximize part quality and properties, while working within the bounds of available hardware and software tools
Develop and/or vet new test parts or procedures where needed to accurately determine if new formulations meet specified product performance goals
Work Cross Functionally to Execute Project Goals
Coordinate with Systems Engineers and Part Quality Engineers to implement process parameters and verify printer-system level performance during product scale-up and testing
Actively engage with the development teams and Product Management on matters of schedule, budget, timing, and overall development approach
Provide input and feedback to Product Management on proposals for new technology development and/or new products

Must have for this role:
Bachelors in Materials or Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or related discipline with a minimum of 5+ years of related experience
Previous experience in a manufacturing environment
Proficient in use and applications of polymer and composite thermal and mechanical analysis
Previous materials formulation and polymer compounding experience using DOE tools
Previous experience using 3D printers
Knowledge of polymer structure, process, and property relationships
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Excellent problem solving and time-management skills
Willing to learn and collaborate
Self-motivated and highly organized

Nice to have for this role:
3+ years of materials engineering experience or equivalent expertise in materials science
Hands-on experience with polymer compounding and extrusion
Familiarity with injection molding
Familiarity with other non-additive polymer conversion technologies and related equipment
Design for additive manufacturing (DFAM) experience

Travel required: 5% or less

For this position, the typical annual starting base salary is from $98,594 to $119,502, which does not include variable incentive pay. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. Your individual base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, geographical location, and/or experiences.
