Job Overview

The Sr. Materials Manager oversees all procurement and material management activities at the plant level. This role includes inventory planning/management, alignment with enterprise supply chain processes, direct oversight of material transactions, and coordination with facility warehouse management. The Sr. Manager works collaboratively across multiple functions to strategically align work processes, procedures, and initiatives, ensuring functional specifications are met, parts are available as needed, and product quality is maintained.

Highlights of your role

  • Material Readiness: Ensure the availability of materials to meet production schedules, aligning with production plans and objectives.
  • Supply Chain Goals: Collaborate with various departments to achieve procurement and supply chain goals at both facility and enterprise levels.
  • Continuous Improvement: Develop and enhance supply chain projects, strategies, policies, and processes in collaboration with quality, production management, safety, engineering and HR teams.
  • Department Management: Provide strategic direction and leadership, overseeing performance management processes and ensuring alignment with company goals.
  • Supplier Partnerships: Monitor supplier feedback, focusing on quality, delivery, and service. Utilize performance measurement systems, including key performance indicators. Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure effective material management and handle escalations as needed.
  • Cost Management: Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives and ensure their ongoing success.
  • Reporting: Provide regular updates to stakeholders on progress towards plans, goals, and overall results.
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage the department budget, reporting and deviations or variance as necessary. Analyze financial data to ensure financial goals are met.
  • Team Development: Foster team development and hold team members accountable for their performances.
  • S&OE Process: Oversee the Sales and Operations Execution (S&OE) process for specific collections/locations.
  • Best Practices: Interface with other business units to increase commonality and share/learn best practices.


You're a good fit if you have (or if you can)

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Strong computer skills (especially with MS Office Suite - Outlook, Word, and Excel).
  • Experience with ICIM is considered an asset.
  • Ability to lead, direct, and mentor team members.
  • Ability to work with and maintain highly confidential information.
  • Great understanding of supply chain processes and workflow.
  • Strong leadership acumen and strategic thinking mindset
  • Bachelor's degree in a related area from a recognized program or institution is preferred.
  • 5-7 years of successful supervisory and/or production management and leadership experience.
  • Supply Chain/Procurement/Warehouse management leadership experience is a plus.
  • Certified Supply Chain Certification (e.g., SCMP)
