Job Description: Senior Mechanical Engineer

Location: Orlando, FL

An MEP Engineering Consulting firm is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their Orlando office. This role involves designing and managing mechanical systems for a variety of projects, including medical facilities, hospitals, federal buildings, commercial properties, and residential developments. The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of experience in HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection design, along with strong technical proficiency and leadership skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and oversee HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for diverse projects.
  • Perform computer-based HVAC load calculations using software such as Trane Trace, Carrier HAP, Elite, and others.
  • Prepare and review detailed design documents, including plans, specifications, and calculations.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and project stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Utilize Revit to produce and manage project design models.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and design staff.
Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of mechanical engineering design experience, specifically in HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
  • Experience with projects in medical facilities, hospitals, federal, commercial, and residential sectors.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Florida or eligibility to obtain licensure with a current NCEES record.
  • Proficiency with Revit and computer-based HVAC load calculation tools.
  • Proven engineering supervisory experience
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with energy modeling and sustainability practices.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in managing engineering teams or projects.
  • Knowledge of state and federal building codes applicable to mechanical systems.
