Summary:

The Senior Mechanical Engineer provides technical expertise in the development of modular projects for industrial facilities. They review and perform calculations, make material selections, develop equipment datasheets, RFQ and RFP, and technical bid analysis. They perform technical clarifications, interacting with vendors and suppliers to ensure the design is according to the project specifications, codes, and industry standards. They review, comment, and approve vendors' manufacturing engineering. They analyze technical problems and propose cost-effective design solutions.

Responsibilities:

    • Provide technical reviews of mechanical engineering design calculations, analyses, drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with project objectives and standards.
    • Developing and reviewing pipe specs.
    • Developing and reviewing man hour estimates.
    • Pipe stress analysis.
    • Developing and reviewing RFQ packages (S&THX, ACHX, Vessel, Reactors, etc.).

o Inspection and test plans
    • Vendor data review including verification that vendor meets all requisition and code requirements.
    • Help to develop strategies for project execution without re-work, waste of time, and with quality results.
    • Generate technical reference folders.
    • Ensure safe engineering design in accordance with sound engineering practice.
    • Comply with clients' practices as defined in contract documents.
    • Ensure accuracy and completeness of all work executed.
    • Acquire information and other data from all sources, including design basis and process documentation.
    • Ensure compliance with goals and objectives as well as task requirements, the scope of work, schedule, and cost data pertinent to work.
    • Work on multiple projects/tasks as needed to meet schedule.
    • Work closely with other disciplines and project managers to develop all mechanical engineering tasks and activities with quality and on schedule.
    • Provide a technical interface with clients, vendors, management, and other disciplines.
    • Collect and review all project design documents.
    • Utilize all available engineering tools to efficiently support the team in designing modular refinery packages.
    • Communicate with the Engineering Manager regarding potential problem areas in the Mechanical Discipline on the project.
    • Team up with peer engineers to deliver deliverables of quality.
    • Work on multiple projects/tasks as needed to meet schedule.


Education and Experience:

    • Mechanical Engineering (bachelor's degree) or equivalent.
    • Professional Engineer License highly recommended.
    • 15 + years of related experience working with an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction company.

    • Familiarity with mechanical and packaged equipment engineering with a specialty in pressure vessels & heat exchangers is vital.
    • Including high pressure vessels and reactors, high temperature vessels in CrMo materials; columns and column internals; and various heat exchangers.
    • Gasification technology fired heaters or mechanical handling would be beneficial.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to reach, stand, walk, use fingers, grasp, feel, talk, hear, see and to perform repetitive motions.
  • Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
