The Senior Manager, Public Relations and External Communications will be responsible for advancing the national visibility of the company in the marketplace. Reporting to the VP, Marketing, Digital & Experience, this person plays a key role in managing public relations and external strategic communications. They will implement news and content strategies with a priority on enhancing the company's reputation. In addition, this person will have the opportunity to prepare executives for presentations at public-facing events, and work with a wide variety of internal experts to promote and protect the company's national brands via earned, owned,and paid media.

Responsibilities
  • Develops and executes strategic communication plans and campaigns targeting external audiences on behalf of PDS Health (including company's portfolio of national brands).
  • Researches, writes, and edits compelling and motivating content for press releases, company website, company fact sheets, and other communication materials.
  • Develops and pitches stories to news media that align with business objectives.
  • Liaises with media on behalf of the organization on a proactive basis as well as responds to inbound queries, questions, and other matters from external members of the media.
  • Serves as a representative on cross-functional crisis communication teams; develops proactive and reactive crisis communications, and curates approved media and crisis communications in a content repository.
  • Structures and executes an executive (C-suite and others as needed) media outreach strategy and facilitates meetings/interviews with major media outlets at a national, industry and local level to advance that strategy.
  • Provides communication support to senior level officials by drafting media inquiry responses,presentations, scripts, talking points, articles, documents, etc.
  • Prepares and/or reviews briefing documents on a variety of topics, including thought leadership events for executives.
  • Oversees external communication policies and provides training as necessary.
  • Assists with content development for the company website, working with colleagues at all levels to shape and develop compelling content that aligns with the company's purpose, vision, and strategic priorities.
  • Assists the social media team to build an integrated social media content strategy for various audiences, including media, customers, team members, and other stakeholders.
  • Manages the work of outside agencies (public relations, etc.).
  • Occasionally serves as company spokesperson when needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • 8+ years related experience in a similar environment within communications, public relations, or mediaand 1-3 years of experience in supervising.
  • Master's degree in marketing, communications, or related field, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. In lieu of degree, 10+ years of experience is required.

Preferred
  • Previous experience in dental/retail/healthcare industry.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Outstanding interpersonal, written, and verbal skills; places a premium on attention to detail.
  • Direct experience supporting C-suite executives and managing external communications campaigns.
  • Experience in preparing content to pitch to print, broadcast and online reporters.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and collaborate across brand teams and various territories.
  • Ability to think creatively, approach communications from new angles, and handle day-to-day external media inquiries.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to execute multi-platform communications strategies.
  • A versatile individual with a proactive mindset.

Compensation Information

$103,000.00-$133,000.00 / Annually
