The Senior Network Administrator will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the company's network infrastructure to ensure reliable connectivity, security, and performance across all systems and locations. The role requires expertise in network administration, troubleshooting, and the ability to collaborate with IT teams to meet business requirements. The Senior Network Administrator will also play a key role in mentoring junior staff and improving network-related processes and systems.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities of the Position
  • Plan, design, and implement complex network systems, including LAN, WAN, VPN, and cloud-based networks.
  • Develop network architecture plans for current and future network needs.
  • Configure and install networking hardware such as routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless devices.
  • Monitor and manage the performance of the network to ensure optimal operation.
  • Perform routine maintenance, updates, and patch management on network systems.
  • Troubleshoot network issues and work to resolve them in a timely manner.
  • Ensure the highest levels of network security by implementing firewalls, intrusion detection systems (IDS), and other protective measures.
  • Implement, configure, and maintain network security policies, including firewall rules, VPN access, and encrypted communication protocols.
  • Conduct periodic network security audits to identify potential vulnerabilities.
  • Work with IT security teams to respond to and mitigate network security threats.
  • Use network monitoring tools to ensure the health, availability, and performance of the network.
  • Analyze network traffic patterns and optimize configurations to enhance performance and minimize downtime.
  • Prepare regular reports on network performance and incidents.
  • Work closely with the IT support team to ensure seamless operations and troubleshooting of network-related issues.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation on network configurations, standards, and procedures.
  • Provide support for network-related hardware and software installations, upgrades, and migrations.
  • Lead or assist in network-related projects, including upgrades, migrations, and new installations.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, and budgets.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time and meet company requirements.
  • Mentor junior network administrators and provide guidance on best practices, troubleshooting, and advanced network configurations.
  • Train staff on network-related issues and security practices.

Qualifications of the Position
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (preferred).
  • Relevant industry certifications such as CCNP, CompTIA Network+, or similar.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in network administration.
  • Hands-on experience with networking protocols, firewalls, VPNs, and switches.
  • Proficiency in configuring and managing routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Experience with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Wireshark).
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP).
  • Familiarity with cloud networking and virtualization technologies (AWS, Azure, VMware).
  • In-depth knowledge of network security principles and practices.
  • Experience with Palo Alto, VPNs, firewalls (Cisco, Fortinet, etc.), Connecttwise and Artic Wolf (or another cyber security vendor) and network access control systems.
  • Expertise with wireless networking and related technologies (Wi-Fi, WPA3, etc.).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex network issues.
  • Willingness to support and assist oversees team
  • Strong communication skills for documentation, reporting, and collaboration with teams.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Leadership skills with the ability to mentor and lead junior staff.

Work Environment
  • Full-time, in office position.
  • Availability for after-hours support and on-call responsibilities.
  • Occasional travel may be required for on-site support or project implementation.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to carry various equipment to different locations throughout the company.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, maneuver into tight or confined spaces, and perform install/connect equipment.
  • Ability to travel to various floors and locations throughout the company.
