Contract to Hire - Sr. Network Engineer
MUST Haves: Strong skills in Palo Alto (Panorama - mgmt. app & Dynamic firewall rule creation) and Arista (CVP - mgmt. app) with a knowledge of API/automation
Project Overview: Candidate will be working on standing-up new co-location datacenter, migrating applications from on-premise to cloud or co-location facility, and implementing network infrastructure-as-code.
The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for providingsenior-level network engineering and technical support for data and voice infrastructure. They collaborate with Architects and peers to design, configure, and implement solution delivery. Additionally, they troubleshoot and maintain data and voice infrastructure across the company. They integrate industry best business practices with regard to the use of technology, procedures, and methodology. They provide delegation and direction to other Network Engineers, including appropriate mentoring and coaching as needed.

Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and operate secure and manageable switched and routed networks. This includes all private, public, and business-partner network infrastructure and monitoring of the same. Implements according to defined processes, procedures and project schedules, and operates/monitors system platforms and processes as required. This is accomplished according to industry-standard best practices
- Provide 4th level support for trouble tickets/issues from users and/or other Engineers
- Respond in a timely fashion, retaining ownership of issues until resolved
- Perform routine analysis of and reporting on system performance, and recommend improvements to manager as appropriate
- Document and update all network infrastructure and supported business processes
- Ensure that all network, equipment configurations and supporting applications are backed up and tested on a regular basis
- Ensure that appropriate security considerations and industry-standard best practices are applied to all aspects of the network environment
- Ensure that all assigned activities are conducted in accordance with all applicable Company policies and procedures
Qualifications:
- Experience in large-enterprise, multi-vendor environments
- Experience with designing, implementing, and operating secure and manageable switched and routed networks; Firewalls; Load-balancing; Network Admission Control; VoIP; Cloud
- Experience with enterprise switching technologies, including link negotiation, VLANs, trunking, inter-VLAN routing, port aggregation, and fault isolation
- Experience with enterprise routing technologies, including static and dynamic routing, routing protocols (EIGRP, OSPF and/or BGP required), and fault isolation
- Experience with VPN technology, including remote user access, branch office connectivity, monitoring, and fault isolation
- Experience with packet capture hardware/software (Ethereal, Sniffer) to support fault isolation
- Experience with wireless technologies, including 802.11b/g/n, WAP configuration, 802.1x, site surveys, monitoring, and fault isolation preferred (Cisco Autonomous, Unified Wireless, and/or Meraki product suite experience)
- Experience with network management systems (PRTG, RANCID, Cisco Prime, Kiwi CatTools is preferred)
- Experience with structured cabling (both fiber and copper)
- Experience with Voip and Call Manager
- Experience using Windows (Linux experience a plus)
- B.S. Degree Computer Science or a minimum of 7 years networking experience in lieu of degree
- Network certifications strongly preferred: CCNP, CCIE, PCNSE, F5-CTS (CISSP a plus)
- Experience with security services, including Palo Alto, Cisco ASA, 802.1x
- Experience with QOS is preferred, including traffic shaping, COS, and DiffServ
- Non-biased view of technologies, but specific experience with Cisco, Meraki, F5, Citrix NetScaler, Palo Alto, and/or Pulse Secure products preferred
- Experience developing clear, meaningful network documentation, and using diagrams during fault isolation (Visio experience a plus)
- Experience with VoIP and video conferencing is preferred, including station and trunk classification and prioritization
