POSITION OVERVIEW

General Mills is seeking a full-time Senior Paralegal to support General Mills' Pet Segment. The Senior Paralegal will partner with attorneys and business partners on various legal matters, including marketing and advertising review, contract and sales support, training administration, and customer service support. The work is primarily in support of US clients, but extends outside the US as the business requires.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
In this role, you will provide:
  • Marketing & Advertising Support
    • Act as primary point of contact for the Brand Experience team and advise on campaign development, ensure compliant promotional executions (sweepstakes, promotions, giveaways, contests), advise on brand partnership strategy and draft necessary contracts, and review advertising materials for compliance with advertising law and internal policies.
    • Support the Pet Segment legal team by reviewing packaging, assisting with large-scale ad campaigns (including linear television), and supporting new product development.
  • Sales Support
    • Draft and review sales agreements, contracts, and other legal documents.
    • Support updates to and maintenance of various sales policies and procedures.
    • Provide legal support for the execution of trade programs and promotions.
  • Training Administration
    • Partner with attorneys to educate clients regarding applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Customer Service Support
    • Partner with customer service to provide support on pet parent claim reviews and follow-up letters.
    • Support escalated pet parent disputes.
  • Other Responsibilities
    • Partner with internal Centers of Excellence in Intellectual Property, Supply Chain, Mergers & Acquisitions, Litigation, and others as needed.
    • Serve on cross-functional teams as needed.
    • Be responsible for independent project management and client partnership, as well as working with and assisting in managing external counsel on select matters.
    • Stay current on changes to marketing and advertising law and identify actions needed based on changes to law.
    • Develop and implement best practices and process improvements.
    • Help identify new and maintain existing resources and tools for clients, including SharePoint sites and external tools.
    • Other duties as assigned.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to identify and assess risks and escalate issues to an in-house attorney, as needed.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and work streams to meet critical, short-term deadlines.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Paralegal Studies or Legal Studies, or a Bachelor's Degree and a Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-accredited program.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, strong organizational skills, excellent interpersonal and influencing skills, sound judgment, thorough, and accurate with excellent attention to detail.
  • Team player having the desire and initiative to develop and take ownership.
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite products, including Word and PowerPoint, SharePoint). Willingness to learn new technology as needed.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • In-house experience is a plus, or experience working closely with in-house counsel.
  • Familiarity with data and analytics.
  • Familiarity with learning new software platforms.


This position is eligible for domestic relocation to Minneapolis. It is a hybrid opportunity with the expectation of working in the office at least half of the time.

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $68700.00 - $103200.00 / Annually. At General Mills we strive for each employee's pay at any point in their career to reflect their experiences performance and skills for their current role. The salary range for this role represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, educations, skills, work experience, certifications, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
