SUMMARY:

A senior perfumer is responsible for creating unique and appealing fragrances for a variety of products, including perfumes, colognes, personal care items, and home fragrances.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop, create, and modify fragrance formulas. Work closely with clients to develop and create fragrance formulas that meet their specific needs and preferences. Maintain an up-to-date fragrance library. This involves a deep understanding of fragrance ingredients, their properties, and how they interact with each other. Knowledge of synthetic and natural raw materials
• Understand new materials and staying abreast of older materials available for use within the industry
• Keep up to date with industry trends and conduct research to identify new fragrance ingredients and techniques. This involves working with cross functional teams and attending industry events to stay informed about the latest developments in fragrance creation.
• Highly specialized experience (expertise) with existing fragrance houses, unique schools and ISIPCA or others
• Ability to visualize, analyze, and communicate project's scope of work - Broad knowledge and wide range of applications
• Quickly establish rapport, builds credibility, and cultivates lasting relationships with major accounts
• Ability to memorize olfactive notes and accords
• Manage and update existing "wins" to meet changing client demands
• Understand client needs and educate sales account managers on the constraints and workings of specifics related to the brief
• Collaborate with sensory to gain feedback from consumer testing
• Manage full lifecycle of projects/briefs
• Comply with technical and regulatory aspects of perfumery
• Change formulas as needed and create customer samples for briefs and demo screenings
• Assist quality control with determining if odor/color qualities are stable and passing all required criteria before shipping out
• Highly organized, multi-tasked professional with the successful ability to prioritize effectively to meet deadline and stay within budgets
• Understand ingredients and their reaction with application bases
• Understand safety restrictions nationally and globally in order to work with their creations in technical environments
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Possess global vision of market
• Knowledge of computers in order to document creations
• Strong analytical, problem solving, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong ability and desire to build strong relationships with clients and be able to communicate effectively with them. Understand the client's needs and preferences and translate this into fragrance formulas that tells their story
• May be responsible for training and mentoring junior perfumers, sharing their expertise and helping them to develop their skills.
• Overall, a senior perfumer plays a critical role in the fragrance creation process, using their knowledge and experience to create memorable fragrances that meet the needs and preferences of clients. And ability to teach junior perfumers with their expertise and experience
• Understand and execute all necessary requirements for ISO 9001
• Remain accountable for all defined responsibilities as defined by ISO 9001 process flows

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

• B.S. Degree in a related field
• 10+ years in creating fragrances in all categories with significant WINS

Preferred:

• Previous apprenticeship with a senior perfumer
• Perfumery School Training

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Laboratory Setting
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
