SUMMARY

Manages small one to four person team(s) in preparing estimates during preconstruction including Conceptual, Schematic Design, Design Development and Construction Documents culminating in a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) as well as an occasional hard bid. Additional duties include supporting Operations during buy-out when applicable.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reviews contract documents and attends pre-bid meetings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
  • Reviews and incorporates historical data from prior project estimates, purchase agreements and subcontracts in order to gain information for current project estimates.
  • Provides support to personnel preparing estimates for assigned divisions.
  • Oversees team in soliciting subcontractor/vendor pricing.
  • Attends regular meetings and helps coordinate the design process in preparation for estimates during preconstruction.
  • Develops schedule of values, assumptions and clarifications, value engineering and document control log for proposal submissions.
  • Coordinates with team in preparation for bid day.
  • Coordinates with Proposal Department for development of technical portion of proposal submissions.
  • Ensures that documentation is logged and filed.
  • Ensures that historical information is captured and entered into historical database.

  • REQUIREMENTS

    Education/Experience: Minimum high school diploma/GED and ten-years of construction-related experience required or Four-year degree in related field and seven years construction-related experience preferred. Experience sought in multiple construction delivery methods to include: Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build and Construction Manager @ Risk.

    Certifications, Licenses, etc.: None required. LEED certification is a plus.

    Physical Requirements: Caddell Construction is required to comply with Federal requirements related to COVID-19 vaccination mandates. Any individual considered for this position must provide proof of full vaccination status upon acceptance of an offer of employment. Failure to comply will result in Caddell rescinding any offer of employment. Full vaccination status is two weeks post the two-dose inoculation (Pfizer or Moderna) or a single-dose vaccine (Johnson & Johnson).

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel and Outlook. Experienced with estimating software. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to train and mentor junior employees. Demonstrates a complete understanding of RFP and contract document requirements. Must be a self-starter. Demonstrated ability to develop a preliminary project schedule during the bid stage. Must have a thorough understanding of all construction divisions and general construction knowledge. Must follow Caddell's policies regarding vaccinations' and have the ability to travel related to the bid and proposal process required.
