Fincantieri Marinette Marine, a Fincantieri Marine Group Company, is a progressive shipyard specializing in building ships for the United States Navy. We currently have an opportunity fora Senior Quality Engineer at our Marinette, Wisconsin location.

POSITION SUMMARY

Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for the generation of a strategic plan to improve the business processes and increase production performance effectiveness. Duties include creating the company's quality standards and processes to reflect efficiency, reliability and consistent performance. Designs, installs, and evaluates quality assurance processes, sampling systems, procedures, work instructions and metrics that show performance is meeting the desired intent. Designs or specifies inspection and testing mechanisms and equipment. Analyzes production and service limitations and standards. Conduct training on quality assurance concepts and tools. Interfaces with all other engineering functions within an organization and with customers and suppliers on quality-related issues. Conduct Corrective action Root Cause analysis and develop corrective action plans with process owners. Communicate with executive and management personnel concerning trends and process gaps.

Communication

Internally -- Communicates with Executive Management, Management, Customers, and General Workforce in the effort to develop, maintain, and continually improve the Quality Management System.

Externally -- Communicate with sister and partner companies and Customer to support team efforts with current contracts and ISO Registration efforts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Facilitates process improvement efforts with teams to ensure continued improvement and correction of process issues
  • Reviews customer complaints and assists in development of corrective action responses.
  • Must be able to identify the process relationships necessary for the QMS to be effective.
  • Utilizes internal metrics to determine risks and opportunities in Quality Management System
  • Maintains a commitment to the company vision and the "spirit" of the organization.
  • Must abide by and enforce all organizational policies and procedures.
  • Develop Cost of Poor Quality metrics that drive organizational performance excellence.
  • Inspecting and testing materials, equipment, processes, and products to ensure quality specifications and requirements are met.
  • Ensuring that workflows, processes, and products comply with quality, safety, health and environmental regulations and contractual obligations.
  • Conduct audits to verify process capability and compliance to requirements.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Position may supervise employees in regards to Root Cause analysis and Corrective and Preventive action plans. Will mentor other Quality team members to facilitate knowledge and skills growth. Demonstrates leadership skills that align with the mission, vision, and values of the Company.

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. When entering the shipyard, the work environment is not climate-controlled and there is exposure to moving equipment, etc.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or training to providing qualification as a Lead Auditor in accordance with the ISO 9001:2000 Standard. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Professional Suite networking. Familiarity with all business functions and terminology in a heavy manufacturing environment. Metals fabrication background is a plus. Must have ability to comprehend and apply Military and regulatory standards in all phases of ship construction. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college and a minimum of 6 additional years of experience in manufacturing quality field, or
  • Associate's degree and at least 8 additional years of experience in the shipbuilding and/or manufacturing quality field, or
  • High school diploma and at least 10 years of experience in the shipbuilding industry
  • Six Sigma Black Belt preferred
  • Prior experience in a supplier quality role preferred
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer preferred
