JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Reservoir Engineer will be part of the Barnett engineering team and primarily support Barnett engineering responsibilities. The role will be responsible for day-to-day reservoir management activities supporting and managing both our operated and non-operated assets. These activities include but are not limited to reservoir characterization, building, and analyzing analytical/numerical reservoir models, reserves estimation, forecasting, type curving, asset development and depletion planning, designing, and executing scientific studies, economic analysis, and most importantly optimizing the reservoir. Key responsibilities will include shale reservoir development planning, including well spacing studies and evaluating well performance and completion trials.

The role requires a team player. Works closely with completions engineering to develop optimal completion designs and mitigate "frac hits." Partners with geoscience teams and other functions to determine the optimal areas of the field to focus on. Works on multi-discipline cross-functional teams to develop drilling and restimulation programs. Excellent project management skills and the ability to "see the forest as well as the trees." Responsive to operations, finance, and land disciplines. Requires flexibility, independence, high energy, and a hands-on approach to the work.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Typical job responsibilities of the Sr. Reservoir Engineer include:
  • Barnett ReStim and Development team
    • Member of the ReStim and Development team focused on front end loading aspects of the program.
    • Key team member in selecting refrac/restim candidates for execution.
    • Reservoir Engineer/Subsurface engineer representative in multi-discipline discussions
    • Give guidance and occasionally conduct economic evaluations.
    • Lookbacks on Restim and Development Projects
    • Deep dive on Fracture Driver Interactions (FDI) of offset wells
    • Post execution analysis of restim and drilling jobs, capturing economics and learnings.
    • Surveillance/learnings for continuous improvement of project performance
    • Science trials - contribute to design and evaluation of science trials with completion engineer.
    • Prepare weekly slide updates for company
  • Completion Engineering
    • Work closely with BKV Completions Advisor, Geoscientists and Operations to develop optimal Barnett completion designs for new drills and ReStim wells.
    • As needed, work with NEPA team to develop optimal Marcellus completion designs
  • Compression
    • Interface with production engineering and facilities engineering on compression projects
    • Projects include straddle compression, BEP, pad compression, gas lift compression
    • Responsible for economic evaluation. Expectation of timely economic evaluation and creative problem solving to improve project economics when possible
    • Weekly email/meeting update to keep Director Engineering informed of project progression
  • Urban Encroachment
    • Attend urban encroachment meetings as subsurface engineering representative.
    • Support valuation of restim and recompletion potential
    • Weekly updates on project progression to Director Engineering
  • Reservoir Management
    • Manage and maintain BKV Aries databases as appropriate.
    • Help develop depletion plans for BKV's assets.
  • Economic Analysis
    • Operated and non-operated
  • Scientific Studies
  • Support reserves engineer in planning and budgeting process
  • Collaborate and support asset team with
    • Cost-tracking, evaluating AFEs, and well look-backs
    • Forecasting/reforecasting wells
    • Performing data analytics
  • Collaborate and lead technical analysis for new ventures team on investment/divestment opportunity(ies) as needed.
    • New ventures analysis/evaluation
    • Deep dives into virtual data room (VDRs)
    • Economic and scenario sensitivities
    • Help develop/validate type curves.
  • Cross-functional and cross-asset projects as required.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • REQUIRED SKILLS
    • Understanding of natural gas industry standards, market trends, emerging issues and regulatory requirements.
    • This person should have an in-depth understanding of cashflow modeling for new ventures acquisitions and is comfortable presenting to senior management, financial institutions, third party reserve firms and their investors.
    • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and job-related applications. Uses understanding of digital concepts to create basic digital tools.

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required; Master's degree in Engineering or Business Administration preferred.
    • Minimum of 10 years of reservoir engineering experience with strong fundamentals in fluid flow, reservoir mechanisms, analytical reservoir modeling, reserves estimation, type curves, full field development planning, asset management, benchmarking, budgeting, and data analytics. Ideally experience should be gained with a major oil and gas company and then an independent and or private equity backed company.
    • Considerable experience in shale reservoir development planning, including well spacing studies and evaluating well performance and completion trials.
    • Experience working closely with completions engineering on developing optimal completion designs and mitigating "frac hits."
    • Experience working closely with geoscience teams and other functions to determine the optimal areas of the field to develop.
    • Experience working on multi-discipline teams and the ability to integrate across functions.
    • Deep experience with refracturing horizontal shale wells, recompletions, and other types of restimulations.
    • Ideally has field experience where they have either ran/oversaw a science project and or have hands-on experience "turning valves".
    PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORKING CONDITIONS
    • This position is located at BKV Headquarters in Denver, Colorado Hybrid work will be considered.
    • Occasional travel may be required and would be on an as needed basis up to 10% of total time.


    SALARY RANGE

    $117,000 to $216,000 annual salary
