BASIC FUNCTION
The Sr Rotating Equipment Engineer supports the continuous manufacture of quality high density polyethylene (HDPE) and specialty fluids (HDA), consistent with high standards of quality, safety, housekeeping, and good employee relations. The Sr. Rotating Equipment Engineer will be a technical resource for plant wide rotating mechanical/reliability initiatives, with the objective of continuously improving reliability and health, safety, environmental and loss control performance, both on a short-term and long-term basis. This position will be a front-line contact to address and solve issues with rotating equipment. This position has the responsibility to review equipment technical documentation, collaborate with the capital project team to ensure proper equipment installation, create preventive maintenance plans, coordinating purchase and storage of critical spare parts. This position will have an enormous influence on the success of the maintenance program and thus a corresponding path to promotion within the company.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supports rotating projects for HDPE plant in Pasadena TX (South-East of Houston)
- Initiate, estimate, and manage the engineering and installation of projects and improvements within the Maintenance Department. Ensure special projects and issues are evaluated, performed, and completed in a timely manner
- Ensure appropriate planning and scheduling of work for all maintenance activities
- Update and organize documentation for the reliability programs
- Participate on reliability teams to ensure internal and external customer needs are supported
- Continuously improve reliability and integrity programs with the objective of cost-effectively improving equipment reliability
- Assist maintenance and operations in troubleshooting mechanical problems
- Support other maintenance engineers and staff as required
- Support reliability specialist, maintenance supervisors, maintenance planners, and millwrights
- Assist with shop and outside repairs of rotating equipment to identify the root cause of failure. Engineer changes and/or adapt the reliability and mechanical integrity programs as needed to prevent or predict future failures
- Lead rotating RCA (Root Cause Analysis) investigations for rotating equipment failures
- Understand, support, and comply with all plant safety policies and procedures including the use of loss control software for loss control reporting and communication
- Contribute to continuous improvement by offering suggestions for long term solutions to minimize costs, improve reliability, and improve loss control performance
- Supply data for periodic reports on reliability Key Performance Indicators, such as MTBF, and Equipment Failure Lost Pounds totals
- Collect data to prepare Bill of Material and Spare Part Lists
- Create Preventative Maintenance tasks for all new rotating equipment in SAP
- Attend Factory Acceptance Testing of critical equipment as required
- Participate in the quality surveillance and commissioning of new equipment to achieve construction mechanical completion. Assist in startup activities as required
- Position is located in a chemcial processing facility and requires overtime to meet plant needs, including alternative shifts as needed to meet facility needs
- Position requires periodic (3 out of 52 weeks per year) on-call duties and the successful candidate must be able to respond 24/7, 100% of the time to plant emergencies on short notice, including nights, weekends, and holidays while on-call

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering (other engineering/technical degrees will be considered depending on the experience of the individual)
- 7+ years of petrochemical plant maintenance engineering; Project experience on capital projects desired
- Proficient with SAP - BOMs, WOs, PRs, POs, Equipment Hierarchy
- Computer literacy (Microsoft Office, SAP, etc.)
- API Seal Plans, Rotating Equipment Alignment, Ability to Review and Understand Cross-Sectional Drawings
- Understanding/application of tenets of API 610, 617, 618, 670, 677, 682, 686, and other applicable industry codes
- Previous experience with pumps, motors, fans, blowers, compressors, extruders, pelletizers, agitators. No turbines on site
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE
- 10+ years of maintenance engineering and experience with plant rotating and fixed equipment
- 10+ years of engineering experience in the oil refining or petrochemical field
PHYSICAL CAPACITY REQUIREMENTS
This position requires the following:
- Follow site safety requirements for the role and wear mandatory FRC and PPE (foot, head, ear, eye, hand, and fall protection) when inside plant environment or where directed by signage or procedure
- Read and understand technical documents and procedures in English
- Specific vision abilities include near, far, and intermediate distances, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception
- Required to work at ground level, from ladders, and from heights greater than 250' above grade on fixed platforms, mobile equipment platforms, and scaffolding
- Ascend and descend stairs and stationary vertical ladders with and without a safety cage
- Access confined spaces and pressure vessels through standard 24" manways
- Must be capable of lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds
- Frequent bending, reaching, stooping, crawling, walking, and climbing
- Sit or stand for extended periods of time
- Work at computer for significant periods of time throughout the day
- Required to reach overhead and at shoulder level with hands and arms
- Must demonstrate fine and gross motor coordination including pinching, gripping, turning, and keyboarding of both hands
- Move about uneven surfaces, including catwalks, deck grating, and wet and muddy areas
- Work outside in all weather conditions walking up to mile per job
