About the Role
As the Senior Scientist/Bioengineer, Preclinical Development , you will work closely with Engineering, R&D, and Clinical Teams to advance preclinical CellFX System applications towards clinical use and commercialization. Responsibilities include design, implementation, and documentation of study plans which will advance CellFX technologies from concept to product across multiple surgical- and catheter-based applications. You will also be responsible for developing new benchtop models that can be used to better understand the capabilities of our technology. Willingness to meet challenging deadlines, excellent time management skills, and interpersonal skills are vital in this role.

Pay Range:
Compensation is determined based on a wide range of factors including location, job-related skills, experience, education, and training. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role. This pay range is specific to Northern California location. Base salary range: $125K-$155K

About the Role

You'll Make an Impact By:
- Executing on all aspects of preclinical research and development activities including experimental design, protocol drafting, study execution, histology/sample processing, data analysis, writing reports and data presentations.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with contract research organizations and consultants to drive sample processing, data analysis, lab scheduling, and contributing scientist reports to advance Pulse Biosciences preclinical projects towards regulatory filings with the FDA and other governing bodies.
- Driving preclinical studies to generate actionable, informative data, and relay this data to the appropriate internal audiences to drive innovation within Pulse Biosciences.
- Identifying and implementing workflow improvements in the Preclinical Department to ensure we meet aggressive project deadlines.
- Presenting key data at internal meetings and scientific conferences; prepare research manuscripts for internal review and submission to peer-reviewed journals.
- Providing timely device feedback based on preclinical studies to identify potential project risks and usability improvements throughout the development process.
- Collaborating and effectively communicating with all relevant groups within Pulse Biosciences to ensure constant alignment of timelines and goals while working on complex, interdepartmental projects.
- Driving to meet deadlines and deliverables while working as an individual contributor and significant team member.
To Excel, You'll Bring:
- BS Bioengineering (or related field) with 5 years, MS with 3 years or PhD with 1+ years research experience required in medical device, biotech, biomedical, life sciences field.
- Experience with pulsed-energy or other tissue ablation technologies preferred.
- Experience with in vivo surgical models, especially large animal models, is required.
- Startup experience is a plus.
- Experience planning, coordinating, and conducting complex research studies.
- Broad technical understanding of biology and bioengineering especially as they pertain to ablation modalities.
- Proficient knowledge and skill in Microsoft Office Suite applications, SmartSheet a plus.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and critical thinking skills.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to collaborate proactively and work well in a team environment.
- Ability to work conscientiously and with minimal direction, using good judgment, taking initiative to accomplish short and long-range projects, and recommend actions with minimal direction.
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to work as a team member, multi-task and be very flexible to adapt to the ever-changing work priorities and requirements of a dynamic, fast-growing company.
