We have an opportunity at our corporate offices in Chicago for a Sr. Software Engineer, Platform on our Health Solution team. This is a hybrid position reporting into our Chicago, IL office, requiring 2 days a week in the office.
This role will play a critical role in improvingstability, observability, speed to delivery of AMA's Physician ProfessionalData and AMA's newest credentialing products portfolio. Responsible for workingon Physician data product offerings focused on credentialing and process flowto collect, enrich, and manage data applications. This position will play acritical role in enhancing and managing our AWS infrastructure, monitoring,developing our CI/CD pipelines, and leading efforts in infrastructureautomation with a strong focus on scalability and reliability. Work closelywith our Lead Engineer to analyze and improve our developer tooling, codeinfrastructure, and deployment strategies.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop, automate, and continually improve Health Solutions software products and platform
Assess and implement cloud-based data and application architecture and infrastructure
May include other responsibilities as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience. 7+ years of experience with platform engineering, preferably in a cloud environment. Proven experience with AWS services including Lambdas, ECS Fargate, and optional familiarity with RDS, DynamoDB, and QLDB. Strong background in infrastructure as code, preferably Terraform. Experience with observability and monitoring tools like Dynatrace or similar systems. Proficient in programming with Python, Java, and Bash scripting. Solid understanding and practical knowledge of CI/CD methodologies, particularly with Bitbucket pipelines. Analytical skills to evaluate code infrastructure and make data-driven decisions. Self-starter and demonstrated ability to learn new technology and apply Excellent problem-solving capabilities and the ability to work independently or in a team environment. Strong communication skills and the ability to articulate complex technical issues effectively. A proactive approach to spotting problems, areas for improvement, and performance bottlenecks.
Additional Technical Background
Operate on full AWS Stack along with serverless and experience with deploying and scaling on AWS required. AMA uses Atlassian stack for day-to-day work organization: Jira, Bitbucket, and Confluence and other tools as needed.
This role is an exempt position, and the salary range for this position is $107,865 - $140,964. This is the lowest to highest salary we believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's pay within the salary range will be determined by a variety of factors including but not limited to business consideration, geographical location, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop, automate, and continually improve Health Solutions software products and platform
- Implement and maintain observability and monitoring tools, primarily using Dynatrace for performance profiling and application monitoring.
- Optimize AWS Lambda functions to reduce cold starts and enhance performance.
- Improve the modularity and scalability of our code infrastructure utilizing CI/CD tooling including Bitbucket pipelines.
- Standardize branching strategies across repositories to enhance development workflows.
- Maintain and improve our Terraform stacks for efficient infrastructure as code practices.
- Develop and maintain code release and stability dashboards that provide actionable insights into system performance and stability.
- Support and improve code release processes to ensure seamless deployment cycles.
- Help define and implement standards for stability and observability across all DataLabs projects.
Assess and implement cloud-based data and application architecture and infrastructure
- Collaborate with the engineering team to analyze the current state of our infrastructure and develop strategies for improvement.
- Define technology infrastructure requirements for product development assets including cloud computing needs.
- Identify opportunities to adopt new technologies and integrate with additional systems.
- Collaborate with AMA IT teams and vendors to select, design, and implement infrastructure.
