Job Title: Sr Spec, Procurement
Location: Simi Valley, CA

Schedule: 9/80: Employees work 9 out of every 14 days - totaling 80 hours worked - and have every other Friday off.

The Sr Spec, Procurement, plans and implements activities related to the procurement of raw materials, goods and services. Compiles and analyzes statistical data to determine feasibility of buying products and to establish price objectives. Approves and qualifies vendors, obtains quotes, examines bids and makes awards. Follows up on all awards through completion of order. Negotiates with suppliers and analyzes suppliers' operations to determine factors that affect prices and to determine lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability, and ability to meet required schedules. Reviews proposals, negotiates prices, selects or recommends suppliers, analyzes trends, and maintains necessary records. May prepare request for proposals (RFP) and bid packages. Negotiates and settles with suppliers regarding damage claims, rejections, losses, return of materials, over-shipments, cancellations and engineering changes. Follows applicable anti-corruption ethics, laws, and regulations.

Typically responsible for managing complex projects at this level, involving delegation of work and review of work products.

Education & Experience
  • Requires strong knowledge of procurement with in the defense or aerospace industries.
  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
  • ERP experience required, Costpoint preferred.
  • Typically viewed as having a specialty within discipline. May have broad knowledge of project management.
  • Requires the ability to obtain a future Security Clearance is required for the role. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
