Job Description
Nationally recognized design build firm looking to add talented Sr.
Structural Engineer to their Madison office!
ROLE: The Sr. Structural Engineer works with the architectural, engineering,
construction, and manufacturing teams and acts as the Engineer of Record as
project lead.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Performs project design and engineering services for all aspects of structural
engineering systems
-Provides the highest quality of appropriately detailed and coordinated
building and analytical modeling
-Applies best practices for Structural applications in healthcare facilities
-Performs accurate calculations for structural material selection, design, and
layout
-Applies best practices in steel, concrete, masonry and concrete design
-Visualizes and designs structural systems for proper load path for gravity and
lateral imposed loads
-Collaborates with project team members integrating structural systems
with architecture and other engineering systems
-Provides structural professional labor estimates for assigned projects
-Communicates variation/issues in structural scope and/or professional
services to project leadership
-Assists Purchasing in procuring structural components
-Assists fabrication in developing detailing standards for shop
construction of structural steel framing and light gauge framing
-Visits site as needed to assist construction
-Assists Estimating in developing cost estimates for the extent of
building structural framing
-Responds to concerns/issues from clients after occupancy
REQUIREMENTS:
-Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural
Engineering
-Professional Engineering Registration (PE)
-Minimum five (5) years of relevant work experience in structural engineering
design or any combination of education and experience that provides
equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities
-Expert design experience: Concept; Schematic; Design Development;
Construction as it relates to Structural Engineering
-Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete, steel, light gauge steel and wood
design for building structures
-Understanding of our Integrated Project Delivery Model
- Understanding of unique healthcare facility and medical equipment impacts
and considerations for structural design
-Working knowledge of a variety of structural lateral support systems for high
seismic lateral resistance
-Understand and interpret IBC and ASCE-7
- Strong knowledge of AISC Steel Construction Manual
- Knowledge of ACI Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete
-Knowledge of National Design Specification for Wood Construction
- Knowledge of Building Code Requirements and Specifications for Masonry
Structures
-Understanding of USGBC LEED program
-Working knowledge and preferred proficiency with Autodesk Revit Structure
-Working knowledge of RAM and Risa for design of the superstructure.
