JobSummary:

The Senior Systems Programmer/Analyst is responsible for the maintenance and support of the University's centrally managed enterprise systems. Quintessential responsibilities include software development, maintenance to pre-existing scripts and screens, support of third-party product data integrations, and active participation in working groups and project teams, including the Core Users Group.

This role is key in advancing the University's Technology Modernization Efforts by utilizing current and best practices in the software development life cycle via legacy and modern programming languages. Duties also include working with departments and key-stakeholders in establishing modern business best practices and suggesting alternative methods of addressing business problems.

This position reports to the Director of Enterprise Systems and works in collaboration with experienced and service-oriented IT professionals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead projects with departments and key stakeholders in advancing processes and procedures leveraging Ellucian and non-Ellucian best practices.
  • Manage the Ellucian Colleague Custom Code. Assess, develop, test, maintain, and enhance "Envision Basic" code using Colleague Studio and other supported development tools.
  • Assess, develop, test, maintain, and enhance new or existing applications and integrations between Ellucian Colleague and Third-Party systems using Envision Basic scripting, ETLs, REST APIs.
  • Work with departments and vendors to troubleshoot issues as they related to the University's technical processes and Enterprise Technologies.
  • Represent the Technology Services department as an active participant in IT Governance committees including the CORE Users Group by proposing and implementing solutions to advance the University technical processes and Enterprise Technologies.
  • Assists in prioritizing Colleague centric projects including but not limited to the upkeep and development of new Colleague functionality, implementing and supporting Ellucian Colleague and Self-Service modules. Act as technical lead on projects.
  • Supports Identity Management processes (ELF) granting / revoking access to applications, screen, and data.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, procedures, and training materials for technical and functional University staff.
  • Stay current with Ellucian updates and attend Ellucian and programming language training required to fulfill responsibilities.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to program using (Or strong/working knowledge of) multiple structural and object-oriented programming languages including Envision Basic, Java, Java Script, SQL Programming, PL/SQL.
  • Ability to use (Or strong/working knowledge of) web application software design considerations including REST APIs, front end data management, and application support.
  • Ability to develop software including analyzing data requirements, testing, code reviews, and updates.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to successfully support internal and external constituents.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully lead cross-functional projects and teams to successful conclusions.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or similar equivalent professional experience.
  • 5+ years of software development and data engineering experience, specifically with Ellucian Colleague Envision and/or Ellucian tools and technologies.


Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Available to work nights, weekends and holidays depending on project requirements.
  • May be required to be on-call.
