Bus Maintenance

Roles and Responsibilities:
- Performs inspections, procedural training, and necessary technical / administrative functions.
- Travels to bus garage locations, investigates field problems, and follows up with necessary corrective measures.
- Maintains computer database on bus fleet and assists department with general database projects.
- Approves invoices for receipt and payment, updates progress reports, coordinates, and attends meetings.
- Prepares and maintains monthly reports for ongoing tests and other projects.
- Assists with the development of MSOP's, parts advisories, bulletins, campaigns, and issues same. Reviews vendor service bulletins
- Tests new service parts, materials, and maintenance practices. Creates test plans. Establishes installation instructions for Bus Garages. Tracks and reports on prototype parts installations. Issues final reports with recommendations
- Works with ancillary departments in the onboarding new bus fleets into revenue service
- Assists the Warranty Manager with field visits to ensure all repairs at the locations are up to the standards of NJT and that of the OEM.
Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology or a related field from a US Department of Education accredited college or university and two years of vehicle maintenance experience
- Completion of an ACCSC (Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges) technical training program in Automotive, Diesel, or Heavy-Duty Vehicle Repair and Maintenance and two years of additional applied experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for the Bachelor' s Degree.
- Experience with technical writing, managing multiple projects, and computer skills such as ASI, VMIS and Microsoft Office applications desired.
- One year of closely related experience can be substituted for each year of education required.

Knowledge and Skills:
REQUIRED
- Must be well versed in Technical Writing, Computer Skills including Microsoft Office applications.
- Mechanical experience in all aspects of bus and bus related areas.
PREFERRED
- Computer skills such as Oracle and VMIS applications desired.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Working Environment:
- Must possess or can obtain a valid Class D Driver's license within the first 90 days of employment.

Physical Demands Other Conditions
- Able to sit, stand, bend, kneel for long periods of time.
- Able to lift 50 pounds. Shop conditions are often loud and dirty, PPE must be worn, and all safety protocols followed.
- At times it is necessary to work outside regardless of weather conditions to endure timely return to service of equipment.
