Overview

Reporting directly to the President - SHCA and working closely with the Japan-based Small Appliance Business Unit, the Sr. Vice President of SEMCA is the driving force behind the Sharp U.S. Consumer Products Group spanning both Home Appliance and Television product categories. As a P&L owner and General Manager, you'll lead a 30+ workforce and oversee the functional areas of sales, product marketing, product sourcing, brand marketing, business planning, operations and finance.

This role demands a deep understanding of the appliance industry and consumer electronics, a passion for the Sharp brand and its commitment to innovation, and a proven track record of success in a highly competitive market. The Sr. Vice President crafts and executes strategies that propel growth and profitability, identifying emerging product opportunities, anticipating industry trends, and fostering vital relationships with key stakeholders. His/Her operational expertise ensures seamless integration across departments, managing budgets, setting financial targets, and driving team performance. The Sr. Vice President will also serve as a key spokesperson for the consumer brand, representing Sharp in media interviews and industry conferences and serving on industry boards.

This position is an in-office role, based in Montvale, NJ, with regular domestic and periodic international travel.

Responsibilities

Strategic Planning:
  • Define a compelling, multi-year strategic vision for the division, anticipating market shifts, technological advancements, and evolving consumer needs to ensure sustained competitive advantage.
  • Lead in-depth analyses of market trends, competitive landscapes, and emerging technologies to identify strategic opportunities and potential threats, informing the development of robust strategic plans.
  • Facilitate collaborative strategic planning sessions with key stakeholders across sales, marketing, product development, operations, and finance to ensure alignment on strategic priorities and resource allocation.
  • Define and track critical KPIs that measure progress toward strategic goals, enabling data-driven decision-making and course correction as needed.
  • Cultivate an environment that encourages proactive identification of new opportunities, rapid experimentation, and continuous adaptation to changing market dynamics.

Sales:
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy to significantly expand Sharp's appliance and TV market share and achieve aggressive revenue targets across all channels.
  • Lead the development of strategic partnerships with key national retailers, distributors, and e-commerce accounts and platforms to drive sustained growth.
  • Establish and optimize a high-performance sales organization, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Direct the analysis of market trends and competitive dynamics to identify emerging opportunities and anticipate potential challenges.
  • Actively monitor monthly sales progress with the head(s) of Sales and report sales results & analysis monthly to the Sharp Corporation Business Unit head.

Product Marketing:
  • Collaborate with Sharp's global product development teams to ensure a strong product pipeline that meets the needs and preferences of U.S. consumers.
  • Define and drive a long-term product roadmap aligned with evolving consumer needs and market trends, ensuring a competitive and innovative product portfolio.
  • Lead the execution of impactful product launch strategies, maximizing market penetration and generating strong initial sales.
  • Direct the analysis of product performance and customer feedback to optimize product development and marketing initiatives.
  • Cultivate a deep understanding of consumer behavior and emerging technologies to anticipate future product trends.

Brand Marketing:
  • Oversee the development of a comprehensive brand strategy that strengthens Sharp's brand equity and drives consumer preference for Sharp Appliances and TVs.
  • Lead the development of integrated marketing campaigns across all channels, maximizing brand reach and engagement.
  • Oversee the management of the brand's digital presence, ensuring a consistent and compelling brand experience.
  • Direct the development of strategic partnerships with influencers, media outlets, and other key stakeholders to enhance brand visibility.
  • Establish and monitor key brand performance metrics to measure the effectiveness of marketing initiatives.

Business Planning:
  • Oversee the Purchase / Sales / Inventory (PSI) process to meet KPI metrics for on-hand inventory and aged inventory while minimizing product backorders.
  • Lead the development of semi-annual operating budgets and financial forecasts, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Identify and evaluate potential growth opportunities, including new markets, product categories, and strategic partnerships.
  • Provide strategic leadership and guidance to the team, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.

Operations:
  • Streamline the entire order fulfillment cycle, from order placement to receipt, to final delivery, ensuring efficiency and minimizing lead times.
  • Develop operational policies and procedures that optimizes efficiency, reduces costs, and enhances customer satisfaction.
  • Drive continuous improvement in operational processes, leveraging technology and best practices.

Financial Management:
  • Oversee SEMCA's financial performance, including P&L management, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Implement strategies to improve profitability, optimize pricing, and manage operating expenses.
  • Drive financial performance analysis, identifying opportunities for cost optimization and revenue growth.
  • Lead the evaluation of potential investments in sales and marketing activities and product development, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and financial goals.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable accounting standards and regulations, maintaining financial integrity.

Leadership and Team Development:
  • Recruit, develop, and retain top talent to build a strong and effective leadership team capable of driving strategic initiatives and achieving ambitious goals.
  • Empower team members to take ownership of their responsibilities, promoting a culture of accountability and driving a sense of shared purpose.
  • Invest in training and development programs to enhance the skills and capabilities of team members, ensuring they stay ahead of industry trends and technological advancements.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership qualities, including integrity, vision, and passion, to inspire and motivate team members to achieve their full potential.

Communication and Reporting:
  • Report to the President - SHCA, North American CEO, and Small Appliance Business unit monthly on division performance and strategic initiatives.
  • Communicate division goals, achievements, and plans to employees and stakeholders.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in management, sales, marketing or business administration; Master's Degree strongly preferred.
  • 20+ years' experience in sales, marketing, and general business administration.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in the consumer electronics or appliance industry with a proven track record of senior leadership success.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience successfully managing a P&L.
  • Deep understanding of the U.S. Kitchen Appliance and TV market (consumer trends, competitive landscape, retail channels).
  • Strong strategic planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with management at all levels within SEC and Sharp Japan.
  • Strong project management and process skills.
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated business/financial acumen.
  • Ability to navigate and get things done in a matrixed organization.
  • Self-starter with superior time management, detail orientation, and organization skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate high-performing teams.
  • Mastery of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Passion for the Sharp brand and its commitment to innovation and quality.
  • Ability to attend and participate in periodic evening video calls with Sharp Japan and Asian-based suppliers.
  • TRAVEL: 20%-25% travel, domestic and international.

Compensation for this position

The compensation range for this role is $310,000 - $390,000. The listed salary range or contractual rate excludes bonuses, incentives, differential pay, and any other forms of compensation or benefits. The starting salary will be determined by several variables, including but not limited to experience, education, training, certification, and location. You may also be eligible to receive an annual discretionary incentive award, commissions, and program-specific awards, which are subject to the rules governing these programs.
