Arizona G&T Cooperatives operate on a not-for-profit basis. Arizona G&T Cooperatives are two electric cooperatives owned by the members we serve. Our members include six electric distribution cooperatives that distribute electric power to their own residential and commercial consumers at the end of the line.
Your day to day as a Staff Accountant I, II or Sr
As a new Staff Accountant I, II, or Sr. at Arizona G&T Cooperatives, you can expect a structured yet dynamic work environment. Your typical schedule will involve four 10-hour days, from Monday to Thursday, allowing for extended weekend leisure while maintaining a productive workweek. Daily responsibilities will include managing financial statements, reconciling accounts, and ensuring accurate financial reporting.
You'll engage with cross-functional teams to analyze financial data and develop insights that support decision-making processes. Collaboration is key; therefore, expect to communicate regularly with colleagues to address inquiries and resolve discrepancies. You will also be involved in problem-solving initiatives that encourage innovative solutions. This position fosters continuous learning and development, empowering you to refine your accounting skills while contributing to the overall success of our organization.

To excel in the Staff Accountant I, II, or Sr. position at Arizona G&T Cooperatives, a blend of education and practical experience is essential. Candidates must possess a four-year degree in accounting or business administration, or substantial equivalent experience. A minimum of two years of accounting experience, ideally within a utility setting, is expected. A solid understanding of accounting principles and the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) is crucial, along with familiarity with the RUS Uniform System of Accounts.
Proficiency in advanced spreadsheet and database software is necessary to automate, control, analyze, and visualize data effectively. Demonstrated experience in performing month-end accounting close functions, including journal entry preparation, account reconciliation, and supporting analysis, will be required. Additionally, skills in preparing complex financial analyses, internal reports, and regulatory filings are highly valued. Familiarity with substantial accounting software, particularly SAP, will further enhance your success in this role. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
