Staff or Senior Clinician - Compass Inpatient Unit for Young Adults

This position will provide clinical services to patients and their families on the Compass inpatient unit for young adults at The Menninger Clinic in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team. This position may also provide clinical services to our adolescent inpatient unit as well depending on census. The Menninger Clinic is a Top Hospital ranked #7 nationally. The Compass program is a subacute voluntary inpatient program with patients and families utilizing a mix of private pay and commercial insurance for a length of stay of approximately three to six weeks. Diagnoses and core issues for population served include mood disorders, suicidality, PTSD, anxiety disorders, personality disorders and some psychotic disorders. The Menninger Clinic is a teaching hospital with a robust culture of learning and training and team-based work. Clinical interventions provided include psychodynamic psychotherapy, mentalization based family therapy, emotion focused family therapy, family systems, dialectical behavioral therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, cognitive processing therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy. The role focuses on assessment, individual and family intervention and group work. Average caseload is around 6 primary clinician/family cases, two hours of individual therapy and three to four hours of group work per week. This position will provide direction and oversight for discharge planning to be executed by the case manager. This is an onsite in person salaried position that provides flexibility for personal appointments, etc. In addition to base salary commensurate with years of experience, we offer premium pay for inpatient positions. Trainings and CEUs are often offered through The Menninger Clinic at no cost, as well as CEUs for Grand Rounds through Baylor College of Medicine. For qualified applicants if desired, there are also opportunities to supervise interns and fellows participating in our training programs.

Key Functions

Compliance: Able to deliver services in full compliance with The Menninger Clinic (TMC), the individual programs or units, and all accrediting agencies.
  • Maintain professional license and certifications including completion of all annual education and training requirements.
  • Complete comprehensive documentation and billing as required by accrediting and re-imbursement entities in a timely fashion and adhering to all formal and informal deadlines.


Competency: Performs in a manner congruent with best practices demonstrating knowledge of psychopathology, personality theory, psychodynamics and other techniques and modalities as necessary.

  • Discharge and Aftercare Planning in collaboration with Case Manager
  • Engage in ongoing professional development through in-service training, workshops, grand rounds, professional committee involvement, and other educational activities.

Required

Education : Completion of an accredited master's degree program in social work or counseling is required

License/Certification Required: Licensed in the state of Texas is required. Clinical supervision may be offered to LMSWs pursuing their LCSW; however full licensure (LCSW/LPC) is preferred. Board approved supervisor status (LCSW-S/LPC-S) is also preferred.

Experience: Two years post-master's clinical experience in a psychiatric or behavioral health field is required. Three to six years preferred.
