Locations:
  • Cepton Headquarters - San Jose, CA.
  • Some local on-site visits to key customers.
  • Travel to regional customer sites and to support trade shows & conferences if needed.

The pay range for this role is $180,000-$240,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.

The total compensation package for this position may also include an annual performance bonus, stock, benefits and/or other applicable incentive compensation plans.

Key Responsibilities and Qualifications

What You Will Do: Join the R&D HW team equipped with deep & broad knowledge and design knowhow & expertise on various high speed electrical systems supported by a variety of embedded devices, including commercial CPU, FPGA, MCU as well as the ASIC chip set developed by Cepton
Responsible for ASIC prototyping validation in lidar systems, SOC firmware and driver development.
Support SOC hardware/software interface development and top level co-simulation.
Deliver high quality embedded code to enable key functionality and performance of electrical subsystem as part of our advanced lidar system and technology development.
Design and development of efficient and reliable C/C++ software in a heterogeneous, multi-processor SoC/FPGA/real-time-environment in order to support solid new product prototyping phase as well as smooth transition to pre-production phase.
Electronics sub-system troubleshooting, problem root cause partition and FW/SW solution.
Capable of analysis and quantification of the overall system performance, efficiency and marginality budget with improvement opportunities (e.g.: latency, cycle time and resource optimization) is big plus
Architect, Design and Development experience using advanced Xilinx FPGA chip set and ARM System-On-Chip is required.

Who You Are: Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering disciplines, or physics, with minimum 5 years of industry experience in developing embedded systems
Proficient with C, C++, and Python
Knowledge of SOC architecture, high speed interface, DMA and system boot process.
Experience in ASIC hardware-software co-development and verification is a big plus.
Knowledge in multithreading, memory management, and real time operating system concepts is big plus
Familiar with some basic electrical circuit design with the embedded devices
Knowledge of embedded software design, development, and testing is also preferred
Experience with TCP/IP and networking stacks and with the embedded microprocessor tools are also a plus.
Familiar with ARM & automotive development: MISRA-C, UDS is a big plus
