The Arlo Hardware Design team is seeking a Senior Optical Engineer. You should have at least 5 years' experience in optics/lens and camera design and testing.

BS in Optics, Optical Engineering, Physics with Optics focus or relevant work experience (MS is a plus)
The pay range for this position reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries at commencement of employment and is expected to be between USD$145,000-185,000/year. However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including role, job-related knowledge, skills, relevant education and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including bonus, equity, and a full range of benefits. Details of all benefits will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

The Arlo Hardware Design team is seeking a Senior Optical Engineer. You should have at least 5 years' experience in optics/lens and camera design and testing.
Tasks:
- The team's responsibilities cover imaging optics, CMOS sensors, illumination optics, and motion detection technologies such as PIR and Radar
- Perform testing of prototypes, whether for imaging lenses, illumination or motion sensing.
- Specify and control optics-related manufacturing processes at suppliers and ODM partners.
- Review specifications, simulations, and test results for both individual optical components and complete optical systems from ODMs & vendors. Duplicate testing and/or perform simulations as needed.
- Review design partners' engineering validation plans and test results, provide feedback.
- Position is on-site (non-remote)
- International travel required. (Add some comment on total commitment? ~1-2 weeks at a time, 1-3x per year?)
Key Qualifications and experience:
- Engineering experience on product optics design and testing, generating reports
- Experience with camera performance testing using Imatest or similar tools to quantify KPIs such as MTF, relative illumination, veiling glare, etc.
- Camera design experience
- Experience working with factories on focus process, test process, yield issues
Additional experiences a plus:
- Experience with optical simulations tools like Zemax, TracePro, CodeV, Oslo, ASAP.
- Experience with motion sensing technology
