Ucluelet Co-op is hiring a Staff Pharmacist, on a full-time basis, for the Pharmacy located in our Main Store in Ucluelet, B.C. located on the beautiful West Coast of Vancouver Island!

What you'll do:

  • Provide patient-focused services such as injections, medication reviews, and minor ailment prescribing.
  • Offer professional advice and counseling on prescription and over the counter (OTC) medications, including dosage, adverse effects, and drug interactions.
  • Promote health and wellness, engaging with customers through community events and clinics.
  • Deliver accurate medication preparation and counseling, maintaining high standards of service.
  • Support the Pharmacy Manager in policy development and implementation to meet legislative and accrediting body standards.
  • Oversee medication dispensing processes to ensure accuracy and effectiveness.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with healthcare professional for optimal patient care.
  • Stay updated with developments in the pharmacy profession and participate in industry association events.
  • Complete adjudication and sale of prescriptions and other purchases using the pharmacy software and point of sale (POS) systems.

The Team & Pharmacy: You will report to the Pharmacy Manager and work with the Pharmacy team to demonstrate customer focus and strive for a culture of trust, teamwork, and self-development. Our current Pharmacy Manager is Riz Gumpac, recipient of British Columbia Pharmacy Association's New Practitioner Award 2022! Our Pharmacy is open 7 days a week, 9 AM to 6 PM. We encourage open dialogue regarding your optimal work week (e.g., 36 vs 40 hours; 4-day work week vs 5 days) in order to mitigate burnout and provide work/life balance.

Who you are:

You are looking for a career in Pharmacy and:

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (B.Sc.Phm.) or Doctorate in Pharmacy (Pharm.D) from a recognized institution.
  • Pharmacy license in good standing with the College of Pharmacists in British Columbia or eligibility for licensure in BC within the next 6 months.
  • Professional, trustworthy and results oriented.
  • Someone who builds rapport with customers and patients.
  • Passionate about supporting and understanding of health issues facing Indigenous communities.
  • Can work in a team environment or independently, have strong attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.


What we offer:

  • Competitive salaries reviewed annually; current salary range is $43.88 to $65.82 per hour. A candidate's experience and knowledge as well as the geographical region in which we operate may be factored into the pay a candidate receives for this position.

  • An employer-matched pension plan at 6%.
  • Two-week annual vacation and sick time provided.
  • A signing bonus of $5000.
