Position Purpose
The staff pharmacist is a licensed, responsible professional engaged in operating the outpatient pharmacy and contributes to the medical home model of care. Duties are operational, clinical, and administrative in nature and all contribute to the success of pharmacy services at Vivent Health.
Essential Functions
- Provide superior customer service to patients, providers, colleagues, and referral sources.
- Facilitate management of Vivent Health pharmacies with pharmacy leadership team. A non-inclusive list includes:
- Co-management of pharmacy technicians
- Prescription verification and patient profile review for accuracy and clinical appropriateness
- Inventory management
- Help implement services that create a high patient satisfaction
- Work with colleague pharmacists to assure maximal financial success of the pharmacy within its vision.
- Collaborate with the Vivent Health Medical Center, primarily physicians and nurse practitioners and any other health and social services to optimize health outcomes for medical clinic patients.
- Promote the pharmacy clinical services to medical clinics and act as a collaborator for excellence in HIV care. Collaborate with pharmacy schools to build strong long-term relationships and consistent student placement.
- Adhere to all state and federal pharmacy laws as it pertains to pharmacy practice.
- Work with the pharmacy team to build in-pharmacy clinical services with the goal of improving patient outcomes in a cost-effective manner and create new patient referrals.
- Work with other Vivent Health departments (medical, dental, behavioral health, social services, and prevention) to help patients utilize Vivent Health services to optimize their health and well-being.
- Contribute to preceptorship and learning of pharmacist resident and school of pharmacy students.
- Contribute to Vivent Health Pharmacy's pill pack program (if applicable), both in clinical and administrative capacities.
- Certify as HIV specialty pharmacist through the American Academy of HIV Medicine within three years of employment.
- Any and all other duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager.
Qualifications
- A valid pharmacist license in the state of the retail store is required. There should be no restrictions on licensure that could affect billing for care or dispensing medications.
- Preferred 2 years of pharmacy experience.
- Certify as HIV specialty pharmacist through the American Academy of HIV Medicine within three years of employment.
- Must have valid driver's license.
- Knowledge of and sensitivity to the HIV/AIDS patient population, and/or an eagerness to learn about this community.
- Knowledge of health and social services needs for persons living with HIV/AIDS.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Working knowledge of Spanish language (bilingual) is a plus.
