Purpose:

Our team of engineers, designers, and technical specialists are in the forefront of technology in the medical device industry. As a key member or our group, you will be making vital contributions to the New Product Development (NPD) pipeline and improving patient care through innovation. You will work with NPD teams and Suppliers to develop robust molded part designs, tooling and manufacturing processes that meet or exceed all product requirements at the lowest possible manufacturing cost. This role provides an opportunity to bring exciting new products to market while also providing the opportunity for leadership and significant professional growth

You will be responsible for:
  • Collaborate with external suppliers and internal partners to develop molded components
  • Plan, develop, qualify, and stabilize component development process solutions for NPD projects
  • Influence the product design by providing injection molded component DFM and COGS feedback
  • Identify and evaluate injection molding suppliers
  • Review supplier mold tooling designs and qualification plans
  • Mentor staff on plastics component development

Qualifications

Education:
  • A Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical degree

Required:
  • A minimum of 6 years manufacturing process development, with a focus on plastics injection mold tooling and components development through process qualification
  • Possess hands-on knowledge of mold tooling design, fabrication and assembly techniques
  • Detailed knowledge of SIM fundamentals to assess supplier SIM reports
  • Familiar with various grades of polymers and additives inclusive of injection molding process development
  • Proven understanding of Moldflow software and interpretation of results
  • Application of GD&T and statistical analysis
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills
  • Able to work in a team based, collaborative environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred:
  • Experience in a medical device production environment or other regulated environment
  • Process Excellence Six Sigma knowledge
  • Additional plastics experience including extrusions, thermoforming, insert molding, over-molding, and in-mold decorating

Other:
  • This position may require up to 25% domestic and international travel
