Description:
PING, Inc., maker of PING golf equipment, is seeking a Staff Research Scientist that will focus on developing and extracting insights from computational/analytic models, large data sets, and experiments which would drive club research and design. The incumbent should have a strong enthusiasm for empirical research and answering relevant questions with models and data. This position requires the candidate to reside in the Phoenix Metro Area, relocation assistance will be provided.

YOU WILL:
- Lead the design and execution of experiments to test hypotheses, including developing methods, fixtures, and equipment.
- Work with the Innovation and Design groups to create design optimizations and limit curves based on cutting-edge, evidence-based mathematical and physics models as well as physical experimentation.
- Further develop analytic and computational models that predict performance and capture the physics governing the behavior of equipment and the athlete.
- Create tools and visualizations that help the engineering team process, understand, and apply experimental or simulated results.
- Process, cleanse, and verify the integrity of any data used for analysis.
- Research new algorithms, languages, packages, and statistical tools to enhance the overall productivity of the engineering team.
- Ability to occasionally travel domestic and rare overseas.
YOU HAVE:
- Bachelor's Degree from a properly accredited University, preferably in Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or other quantitative fields, plus a minimum of two years' directly related experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Master's degree in Engineering or related field is preferred.
- Statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, regression, predictive analysis, design of experiments, and machine learning.
- Strong data analysis skills and mathematical statistical tool proficiency (R, SAS, Matlab, etc.). Excellence in at least one of these tools is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and team skills with the ability to gain consensus.
- Ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and concise manner.
- Robust understanding of fundamental engineering and physics principles (impact mechanics, friction, advanced materials).
- Strong design of experiments background and experience.
- Demonstrated ability to manage, focus and lead business meetings.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate a very high level of activity under a variety of conditions and constraints.
- Working knowledge of CAD and golf-related manufacturing processes (e.g. casting, forging, composites manufacturing, tool design, etc.) is preferred.
- High level of computer literacy of Microsoft Office: Outlook, TEAMS, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- High level of familiarity with PING's product lines, the game of golf and the golf industry.
