As a Staff Software Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in architecting, building, and scaling Uber's ad products. You will lead the development of build end-to-end ad solutions that connect advertisers with Uber's massive user base. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on large-scale distributed systems, interactive ad experiences, and data-driven optimizations that power Uber's ad monetization strategy.
What the Candidate Will Do:
- Design and develop next-generation ad products and formats, ensuring seamless integration into Uber's user experiences.
- Buildhigh-performance, scalable ad-serving capabilitiesthat power native ads, video ads, and interactive ad experiences.
- Lead the technical direction forad product innovation, driving the evolution of Uber's advertising ecosystem.
- Optimizead ranking, targeting, and auction mechanicsto maximize engagement and revenue.
- Work closely withProduct, Design, Machine Learning, and Data Science teamsto craft compelling ad experiences.
- Ensureseamless ad rendering, fast load times, and high-quality user experiencesacross Uber's apps.
- DriveA/B testing, experimentation, and ad measurement strategiesto optimize ad effectiveness.
- Influencelong-term technical roadmap, architecture decisions, and engineering best practicesfor the Ads Engineering Org.
- Mentor and coach engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and innovation.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degreein Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 8 years of software engineering experience, with expertise in building and scaling ad products.
- Strong proficiency inJava, Scala, Python, or Golangfor backend development.
- Expertise indistributed systems and micro-services architecture.
- Experience withSQL, NoSQL databases, caching, and large-scale storage solutions.
- Excellentproblem-solving, system design, and leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Track record ofleading technical initiatives and mentoring engineersin high-growth environments.
- Experience inAdTech, programmatic advertising, or in-app ad monetization.
- Strong understanding ofnative ads, video ads, interactive ad units, and rich media experiences.
- Hands-on experience inA/B testing, experimentation platforms, and ad effectiveness measurement.
- Familiarity withprivacy-preserving advertising, attribution modeling, and fraud prevention.
- Experience working withstreaming frameworks like Kafka, Flink, or Spark for real-time data processing.
For New York, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$223,000 per year - USD$248,000 per year.
For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$223,000 per year - USD$248,000 per year.
For Sunnyvale, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$223,000 per year - USD$248,000 per year.
