About the Team

We are looking for a seasoned Staff Software Engineer to help build the next generation of advertising technology internal to Vizio. This role will develop and maintain core services critical to monetizing our platforms. This is an individual contributor position and will report to the back-end Manager of Software Engineering. We are a close-knit team, focused on solving challenging problems that make a difference in our business. We concentrate on high-impact, high-value development, and in this role, you'll be delivering the software that helps us grow. We pride ourselves on working in a collaborative environment, and to do so we are in our Denver, Dallas, and Salt Lake City offices 5 days a week.

What You Will Do

1. Research and Design
Conduct in-depth research on cutting-edge technologies to inform the design and construction of innovative software solutions.
Lead the architectural design process, ensuring scalability, performance, and alignment with industry best practices.
2. Collaboration:
Engage in cross-functional collaboration, leveraging expertise to enhance the overall software development process.
Facilitate effective communication and cooperation among team members, emphasizing a cohesive and goal-oriented work environment.
3. Implementation:
Take ownership of implementing complex backend features, demonstrating proficiency in Java and PHP development and adhering to high coding standards.
Drive and optimize the Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) process to streamline software delivery.
4. Testing:
Develop and maintain comprehensive automation tests to ensure the scalability of software and achieve low- latency responses.
Implement robust testing strategies to validate software functionality and reliability.
5. Review:
Regularly evaluate team processes, identifying opportunities for improvement and offering strategic solutions.
Contribute to a positive workplace culture by fostering an environment of continuous improvement and team success.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE:
By 3 Months... You demonstrate a thorough understanding of the ad tech industry and its relevance to achieving business objectives. You also contribute valuable insights to ongoing projects and team discussions, showcasing a quick grasp of the team's role in the larger business context.

By 6 months... You successfully complete tasks critical to delivering the team's quarterly initiatives and provide unique perspectives and recommendations that positively influence the design of future projects, showcasing leadership in technical decision-making.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
8+ years of professional experience as a Software Engineer
Proficient with Cloud Services (AWS/GCP/Azure)
Proficient in working in environments with multiple development languages (Java/PHP/Python)
In-depth knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automation testing tools
Agile or Scrum SDLC experience
Highly experienced with databases, comfortable developing advanced queries and designing new tables and relationships
Bachelor's degree in CS or a related field required

For Colorado-based employment: The minimum salary for this position is $138,000.00/year. In addition to base salary, the compensation package also includes eligibility for an annual bonus, as well as equity and a range of medical, dental, vision and other benefits.
