Rehlko is searching for a Staff Systems Engineer to lead the development of advanced controls technologies, system-level requirements for controllers, and intellectual property (IP) documentation, including patent protection. In this role, you will serve as a technical subject matter expert in generator communications and paralleling, driving innovation while maintaining and teaching best practices across departments.

Specific Responsibilities
  • Design, analyze, and document electrical system architectures to align with project goals.
  • Utilize modeling and simulation techniques to validate design assumptions and propose improvements.
  • Develop, analyze, and document plant models to support controller algorithm testing and simulation.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to define and document system requirements and specifications.
  • Oversee the development of electronic control system performance specifications with a collaborative team approach.
  • Innovate system-level designs as a technical expert for current and future projects.
  • Create and document system DFMEA in collaboration with other team members.
  • Provide generator system feedback during design reviews based on technical expertise.
  • Collaborate with patent attorneys to generate patentable ideas and alternative solutions for existing patents.
  • Investigate, resolve, and document genset system technical challenges effectively.
  • Partner with Marketing to develop controller strategies and technical roadmaps tailored to strategic market initiatives.
  • Engage with external technical experts and upper management to assess new technical concepts relevant to Kohler Power Systems.
  • Develop, maintain, and share best practices within the department and across teams.
  • Foster cross-functional knowledge sharing to promote continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Represent Rehlko in professional societies and associations to enhance and share technical expertise.
  • Contribute to special technical projects as determined by departmental priorities.


Requirements
  • Hold a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering; advanced degrees (M.S. or Ph.D.) are advantageous.
  • Demonstrate 6 years of related work experience, or 4 years with an advanced degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Display proficiency in technical tools like Matlab, PSPICE, Simulink, OrCAD, Verilog, VHDL, and Microsoft Project.
  • Show strong skills in programming languages such as C, C++, and Assembly Language.
  • Exhibit abstract reasoning, organizational abilities, and a high level of motivation to tackle complex challenges.
  • Collaborate effectively as both a team leader and independent contributor to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Possess familiarity with communication protocols like CAN and MODBUS.
  • Have working knowledge of processor, memory, and communication technologies.
  • Bring industry knowledge in wiring, grounding, control topologies, and communication techniques.
  • Understand switchgear applications and paralleling control topologies.
  • Demonstrate experience with regulatory standards and electrical machines, power electronics, and engines.
  • Prior experience in voltage and current regulation control systems is preferred.
  • Familiarity with embedded systems, especially NXP processors with IDE Keil, is a plus.

The Salary range for this position is $98,900.00-$125,600.00.The specific Salary rate offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, their education, and the work location.
