STAFFING SPECIALIST

GENERAL DEFINITION AND CONDITIONS OF WORK

Performs difficult professional and administrative work planning, processing and coordinating the human resources functions of the school division; does related work as required. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Director of Human Resources. Supervision is exercised over subordinate personnel.

This is light work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects; work requires stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions. Some teaching specialties (i.e. music, art, physical education, etc.) may require hearing, vision, physical coordination and/or exertion and effort in excess of those listed above.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TYPICAL TASKS

This position description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, knowledge or skills associated with: Preparing and maintaining payroll and related records and files; preparing reports.
  • Reviews employment applications and evaluates the work history, education, job skills, and other qualifications of applicants to determine their eligibility for employment;
  • Screens and refers qualified applicants to school principals and administrators for further consideration.
  • Communicates with job applicants regarding their employment status, extends job offers, and provides hiring recommendations.
  • Facilitates initial onboarding processes for new hires.
  • Supports the analysis of hiring, retention, and termination trends to anticipate future staffing needs and develop a comprehensive recruitment and retention strategy, with a strong emphasis on attracting diverse educators.
  • Assists in both short- and long-term planning to enhance recruitment and retention processes.
  • Empowers school principals to manage human capital effectively by providing HR data, training, coaching, and best practices related to recruitment, selection, hiring, and retention.
  • Establishes outreach and communication strategies to engage new teachers and support staff;
  • Assists in developing recruitment marketing and branding materials, collaborating with the communications department to create and refine social media content, website materials, and other publications in alignment with branding standards.
  • Manages partnerships with external job boards and coordinates job advertisements in collaboration with the communications department.
  • Engages with current staff to explore innovative recruitment strategies for hard-to-fill positions, including coordinating and maintaining retention and exit interviews.
  • Plans, organizes, and participates in external recruitment events and activities.
  • Coordinates on-site job fairs and contributes to the leadership and execution of New Teacher Orientation.
  • Develops and maintains a strong candidate pipeline by establishing new partnerships and nurturing existing relationships with local, state, and regional organizations, higher education institutions, military agencies, and local businesses.
  • Designs and implements a comprehensive, year-long onboarding program for new hires, providing ongoing support, monitoring satisfaction, and connecting employees to available resources to improve staff retention.
  • Conducts stay and exit interviews to collect and analyze data, identify trends, and develop retention strategies. Provides recommendations to leadership based on findings.
  • Ensures all activities align with equitable and non-discriminatory practices.
  • Supports onboarding and induction efforts, including the coordination of mentorship programs for new employees.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Must possess knowledge of the principles, practices, and current issues involved with conducting recruitment and staffing initiatives. Knowledge of staffing strategies involving educational positions preferred. Must possess a thorough knowledge of state and federal employment laws to include EEO, ADA, and FLSA regulations. Must possess excellent employment interviewing strategies and techniques. Must possess the ability to conduct employment interviews and effectively evaluate the qualifications of candidates. Must be willing to travel frequently on recruiting assignments. Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Must possess the ability to utilize the business community for developing incentive packages. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Access. Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, applicants, and the public.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Must possess a Bachelor's degree in education, marketing, business, human resources, or a related field with some experience in a related human resources position.

Terms of Employment
  • Salary Range: $69,478 - $113,554
  • Contract: 12 Months Employment
  • Benefits: Employer Portion Paid Retirement, Life Insurance, Contribution to Medical Insurance, Sick Leave and Annual Leave
