Staff or Senior Staff Psychologist or a Staff or SeniorStaff Social Worker

University Counseling Services of Boston College has anopening for a full-time Staff or Senior Staff Psychologist or a Staffor Senior Staff Social Worker. This is a full-time, 12-month position.Benefits are excellent and the salary range is competitive with peerinstitutions. We are seeking a clinician with demonstrated skills andinvestment in working with diverse student populations, and in providingeffective time limited individuals and group therapy as well as emergencypsychological care. Staff psychologists may also have the opportunity toprovide supervision within an established postdoctoral training program, andSenior Staff may have opportunities over time to provide clinical supervisionto junior staff members.

University Counseling Services is highly utilized withnearly 2,000 students receiving individual or group services each year.Counseling Services maintains close connections with the academic units of theuniversity as well as with Student Affairs partners. The department enjoysstrong working relationships with faculty, staff and administrators, as well aswith various student groups. Responsibilities Include:
  • Depth oriented and skills based individual and group counseling and psychotherapy.
  • Emergency coverage and crisis intervention.
  • Solution focused - same day therapy.
  • Clinical consultation to faculty, staff, students, and families.
  • Outreach and training.
  • Supervision of post-doctoral fellows or junior staff as needed and appropriate.
  • Collaboration with departmental psychiatric providers.
  • Evening and weekend on-call is periodicallyrequired as a back-up to external emergency coverage. In addition, as aprofessional, flexibility is expected to ensure that all responsibilities andtasks are completed effectively, even if that means occasionally working beyondregular hours.

Each staff member is expected to contribute to the greatergoals of the division and the university. These contributions (outside ofyour primary work area) may include supporting division and university-wideinitiatives, staffing events, and serving on committees as needed. Some of thiswork may take place on weekends and outside of normal business hours.

Requirements

Requirements (across all titles):
  • Expertise in providing psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and risk assessment for a large and diverse student population.
  • Experience in collaboration with campus or community partners, such as faculty, staff, and partner healthcare providers.
  • Background in outreach programming, psychoeducation, or training within a university or community setting.
  • Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR) for clinical documentation and case management.
  • Familiarity with culturally responsive care and the integration of mission-driven values, such as cura personalis, into mental health practice. Ability to practice independently.
  • Demonstrated skill and investment in working with BIPOC client populations

Desired Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in understanding unique mental health needs of students with one or more marginalized identities on a college campus.
  • Previous experience working in a University Counseling setting.

Title and salary commensurate with relevant experience based on the following titles and hiring ranges:

Staff Psychologist: $83,680 -$104,600
  • Completed doctorate in counseling or clinical psychology.
  • Licensure as a psychologist in Massachusetts within 3 months of starting

Senior Staff Psychologist: $92,320 - $115,400
  • Completed doctorate in counseling or clinical psychology.
  • Licensure as a psychologist in Massachusetts.
  • Minimum of 5 years of post-licensure experience providing psychotherapy in a university mental health setting or similar setting.
  • Experience with clinical supervision of junior staff.

Staff Social Worker: $70,520 -$88,150
  • MSW from a CSWE-accredited program or a Board-approved doctoral degree in social work.
  • Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in Massachusetts preferred, or ability to obtain LICSW within 3 months of starting.
  • Minimum of 3 years of post-licensure experience providing psychotherapy in a university mental health setting or similar setting.

Senior Staff Social Worker: $77,800 -$97,250
  • MSW from a CSWE-accredited program or a Board-approved doctoral degree in social work.
  • Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in Massachusetts.
  • Minimum of 5 years of post-licensure experienceproviding psychotherapy in a university mental health setting or similarsetting.
