Schedule: Monday - Thursday, ten hour days.

The Division of Forestry, Fire & State Lands is recruiting for a skilled and motivated Statewide Fire Business Coordinator. This position serves as the Statewide Fire Business Coordinator and will focus on Fire Business related activities within the State of Utah. The right candidate will be a self-motivated individual with an understanding of wildland fire business practices and a willingness to learn new processes. This position does require on-call availability during the wildfire season.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with FFSL Fire Program management to complete a variety of fire business projects.
  • Act in a lead position regarding wildland fire business related practices for the State of Utah in Inter-agency formats
    with partnering agencies including; local, state, and federal.
  • Administer the Fire Business System by overseeing Program Specialists completing routine processing and planning for future needs bydeveloping and implementing upgrades.
  • Coordinate with leadership to administer Fire Department Grants, MOU's, and Agreements.
  • Coordinate statewide contracts to fulfill critical wildland fire response and support functions.
  • Manage limited purchase delegation authority for wildfire support.
  • Support and advise on Emergency Purchasing.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Able to work remotely under little to no supervision with expected results.
  • Data management skills.
  • Communication skills.
  • In depth understanding of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Type 3 Finance Section Chief.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Wildland Fire.
  • In depth knowledge of wildland fire business practices.
  • Understanding of wildland fire response capabilities of federal, state, and local agencies.
  • Understanding of the National Incident Management System.
  • Understanding the State of Utah billing policy and procedures.
  • Understanding of Fire Management Assistant Grants.

  • Risks found in potentially dangerous or unusual environmental stress situations, e.g. working in extreme outdoor weather conditions, working in remote wilderness areas and/or boating/OHV areas, etc.
  • Wildfire qualifications and agency certification standards.
  • Work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing, recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching or similar activitiest, and recurring lifting.
  • Typically the employee may sit comfortably to perform work; however, there will be times during the fire season you will be in the field for extended periods of time, up to 14 days not to exceed 21 days. You will be required to be on-call during the fire season (June 1 through Oct 31) and be able to answer the call for assistance within 30 minutes.
  • Must complete training needed to perform in the field as a Trainee Finance Section Chief Type 3 (FSC3/NWCG) during the 12 month probationary period.
  • On- Call June 1 - Oct 31 Annually.
  • State or Incident Business Related Travel Reimbursement eligible.
  • Working 40 hours weekly, M-Th.
  • Overtime authorized and approved.
