We are currently recruiting for a Strategic Development Specialist II - Civil Space for the BAE Systems, Inc. Space and Mission Systems (SMS) Sector's Strategic Operations (StratOps) Strategic Capabilities Unit in the Washington, DC area. The Strategic Development Specialist II - Civil Space will support company activities related to strategic development, customer engagement, and business development, primarily for the SMS Sector's Civil Space customers, which include the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) portfolio of programs and pursuits.
This position reports to the Strategic Development Manager - Civil Space in Strategic Operations. The reporting location for the position is Arlington, VA.
The Strategic Operations (StratOps) Strategic Capabilities Unit, consists of Washington DC Operations, Marketing & Communications and Strategic Development. The StratOps team promotes and elevates the business within our markets, works with customers and industry to influence and drive growth and facilitate collaboration across the business enterprise to increase opportunities.
What You'll Do:
On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site three or more days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.

What You'll Do:
- Lead development of value-added products that inform the SMS Civil Space Strategic Business Unit's strategy.
- Develop, coordinate, and implement contact plans for SMS Civil Space customers and stakeholders.
- Represent BAE Systems SMS in the Washington, DC area by attending and distributing analysis of stakeholder/customer meetings and industry association activities.
- Draft content for white papers, talking points, presentations, and materials to support stakeholder/customer meetings.
- Provide assessments of markets and business opportunities, in coordination with the Market & Competitive Intelligence team within StratOps.
- Ensure coordination of BAE Systems SMS messaging, consistent with strategies and goals.
- Provide research and analysis on key policies and legislation impacting the BAE Systems SMS Civil Space customer community, including NASA, NOAA, USGS, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Foster informative relationships with SMS Civil Space customers, partners, and industry stakeholders
- Develop subject matter expertise in SMS Civil Space programs, pursuits, and capabilities.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.

- Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor.
Required Skills and Education
- BS/BA in a related field plus 2 years or more of related experience.
- Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
Preferred Skills and Education
- BS/BA in public policy, communication, engineering, or business.
- Experience working at NASA or NOAA, in Congress, or with an aerospace/defense contractor).
- Exceptional project management skills.

- Experience developing messaging and high-quality presentations for senior leaders.
