Role & Responsibilities
The responsibilities and duties described here are representative of those a Lead Strength-HIIT Instructor must perform. This is not a comprehensive list, and other duties may be assigned.
Responsibilities include:
Strength-HIIT Team Leadership:
- Work with Group Fitness Director to develop class & instructor guidelines and standards
- Train, mentor, evaluate, and manage instructor staff, including:
- Ensure all instructors implement an effective, engaging, on-brand Strength experience o Ensure all instructors adhere to expectations in Chelsea Piers Fitness & Group Fitness handbooks
- Assist with schedule management, substitutions, and evaluations
- Assist with social media outreach / marketing to help all instructors gain a following
- Recruit and develop group fitness talent
- Recruit diverse staff to reflect company and member needs o Expand program / instructor knowledge base through trainings, workshops, and regular communications
- Maintain hiring and evaluation procedures o Auditing and coaching instructors on teaching styles
General:
- Identify new opportunities for CPf Strength program such as:
- Innovative class ideas plus a deep understanding of program's competition o Proposals on potential equipment and studio upgrades
- Communicate with each site's Hospitality, Fitness Concierge and Operations teams to carry out any necessary on-site tasks, including substitutions, technical issues, studio maintenance, and equipment needs.
- Work on Audit Schedule with Group Fitness Director to collect data for our Monthly meetings and to pinpoint where our community needs help.
- Maintain a strong presence in all clubs including during peak hours such as evenings and weekends, at various member events, and on social media
- Serve as a brand ambassador for Chelsea Piers Fitness
- Seek excellence and progress in all tasks
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Candidates must have at least 5 years of teaching group classes in Strength and 3 years in a leadership position
- Leadership skills and team management experience, including an ability to motivate and educate others
- Self-motivated/entrepreneurial spirit with an outgoing, diligent and affable disposition. Ability to adapt to change and a willingness to improve and evolve
- Superior customer service skills; excellent and clear communication skills, both verbal and written; strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Organizational skills, including management of multiple projects and technologies; and a familiarity or willingness to learn Microsoft Outlook, Teams and Exerp
- High-energy, passionate, articulate and personable.
- Current Group Fitness or Personal Training Certification, CPR and AED certification, with advanced special skills certifications preferred
- Motivating, positive and encouraging demeanor
- Must be able to lift 30 to 45 pounds or appropriate weight to lead session
