Location: Jacksonville, FL with paid travel throughout Florida (Tampa, Orlando, Tallahassee, etc.)

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Structural Forensics Engineer to join our team who enjoys working in the field and being hands-on.

Position Summary:
As a Structural Forensics Engineer with Construction experience, you will play a crucial role in investigating and analyzing structural failures, defects, and construction-related issues. Your primary responsibilities will include conducting on-site inspections, collecting data, performing analyses, and producing comprehensive reports to assist clients in making informed decisions. There will also be construction oversight of the repairs that you have suggested. You will work closely with a team of experts in the field and collaborate with various stakeholders to provide expert opinions and recommendations. This role is hands-on and will involve travel to different sites in the State of Florida and potentially elsewhere.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough on-site inspections of residential, commercial, and industrial structures to assess damage, defects, and construction quality. Most work right now is in multi-family residential.
  • Utilize advanced testing and evaluation techniques to determine the root causes of structural issues.
  • Collect and analyze data from inspections, including structural plans, drawings, and material specifications.
  • Perform structural calculations and simulations to assess the integrity and safety of structures.
  • Produce detailed technical reports outlining findings, conclusions, and recommendations for repair or mitigation.
  • Collaborate with architects, contractors, legal teams, and insurance adjusters to provide expert opinions and expert witness testimony as needed.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry standards, codes, and best practices related to structural engineering and construction.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and training to maintain expertise in the field.
  • Construction oversight of repairs and drafting up of drawings using Autocad Lite and Google Sketchup.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is a plus but not necessary.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in structural engineering and construction, with a focus on forensic analysis.
  • A P.E. License is a nice plus
  • Good report writing skills are a must. As part of the screening process - providing writing samples will be expected.
  • Autocad experience is a nice plus.
  • Proficiency in using structural analysis software and tools.
  • Strong knowledge of building codes and regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel for on-site inspections. Travel will be 1-2 days a week. Travel is reimbursed.
