The NNSA's Savannah River Site (SRS), located in Aiken, South Carolina, is responsible for supplying and processing tritium, a radioactive form of hydrogen that is a key component of nuclear weapons. SRS loads tritium and non-tritium reservoirs; processes reservoirs; and recycles, extracts, and enriches tritium; and also plays a key role in NNSA's nonproliferation missions (energy.gov).

We are seeking a Structural Design Engineer to join our team supporting the Savannah River Site! This position is full-time and will be based out of Aiken, SC.
Responsibilities
- Work with an engineering team to support the preparation/review of structural design efforts.
- Provide support for line calcs and thickness calcs.
- Remain aware of, and adhere to, Structural/Nuclear Codes: IBC, ACI 318 & 349, ASCE 4, 7 & 43, AISC 360/N690.
- Perform post-installed concrete anchorage evaluations.
- Design welded and bolted steel connection.
- Utilize structural finite element analysis software (RISA, SAP, GT Strudl, or STAAD).
- Perform modal response spectrum and equivalent static analysis.
- Work with MathCAD, GT Strudl, and Abaqus CAE (Abaqus GUI pre-processor for building models).
- Provide stainless steel provisions - ASCE 8.
- Perform some scripting in Python.
Requirements
- Education & Years of Experience - Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and 5+ years of equipment design experience.
- Citizenship - To be considered, you must be a United States (U.S.) citizen due to the federal nature of the work.
- Clearance - To be considered, you must be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance, if needed.
- Must have experience with MathCAD.
- Must have experience with GT Strudl.
- Must have experience with STAAD.
