Supports and supervises students to ensure successful transition from school to community life. These supports include, but are not limited to EL, IEP, 504 plans, foster care, military families, homelessness, discipline, and inequity issues by performing the following duties.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Valid endorsement for Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) required.
  • Valid Ohio School Administrator License (preferred) or willing to or actively work towards obtaining administrative licensure.
  • Valid OTES credential or the ability to obtain the credential.
  • Five years or more of related teaching experience and/or administrative experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with English as a Second Language (ESL) programming required.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively and work productively with all levels of District staff, students, parents, and the general public. The coordinator is also required to have effective verbal and written communication skills and be able to handle problem situations in a tactful, courteous and respectful manner.
  • Proven leadership skills with ability to work across functional teams and with district staff.
  • Strong strategic thinking and planning skills , including the ability to translate stategic vision into processes and execute against goals.
  • Capability to effectively develop and maintain strong relationships with school leaders, staff, teachers, parents, students, and community stakeholders.
  • Ability to self-direct and prioritize among competing goals, exhibit flexibility, and drive results in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication, and presentation skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Analytical ability to develop plans of action to address a variety of issues and concerns in a timely manner.
  • Mental ability to adapt and respond to multiple priorities and demands.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Assists school administrators for the purpose of supporting them in meeting the needs of English Language Learners
  • Conducts meetings with staff for the purpose of coordinating districtwide activities including disseminating and receiving information, planning and implementing activities/events, addressing operational issues, etc.
  • Confers with staff as may be appropriate regarding instructional techniques, organization of practices, etc. for the purpose of providing guidance and mentoring.
  • Coordinates a variety of administrative activities (e.g. screening, interviewing, recommending, and/or orienting program staff; etc.) for the purpose of ensuring a positive learning environment and the efficient use of resources within the specified program area.
  • Coordinates language proficiency testing for the purpose of identifying students that qualify for English Language programs.
  • Identifies program needs (e.g. instructional materials and equipment, etc.) for the purpose of providing input to school administration and teachers that will enhance the EL program.
  • Monitors District and State level advisory committees for the purpose of ensuring compliance and obtaining input to maximize program effectiveness.
  • Monitors inventory of instructional materials, equipment and supplies for the purpose of identifying required items to provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum.
  • Participates in meetings, workshops, trainings and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
  • Plans, organizes, and provides instruction in English that meet state and federal standards.
  • Assist teachers to develop and deliver lesson plans that utilize a broad range of appropriate teaching techniques and strategies.
  • Maintains complete and accurate records of student progress and evidence of growth and progress.
  • Adapts curriculum to provide individual, small group, and/or remedial instruction as to meet the needs of individual students and subgroups of students.
  • Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior required to run an orderly and productive classroom environment
  • Prepares a variety of reports and written materials (e.g. District EL plan, benchmark objectives, supply orders, equipment inventory, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities and ensuring compliance with established guidelines.
  • Serves as a liaison with affiliate schools for purposes of developing programs and services to meet needs of students with special needs.
  • Identifies and attends professional development opportunities to remain current with local, state and federal legislation and best practices.
  • Provides information regarding the application process to affiliate schools.
  • Provides support to career technical and academic instructors as applicable.
  • Work collaboratively and cooperatively with building principals, district administrators, and affiliate school district supervisors to resolve issues and ensure effective and efficient provision of Student Services programs and services.
  • Communicates the enrollment process for students with students and parents.
  • Assists with compliance reporting for the Great Oaks District.
  • Assist the Director of Student Services to ensure successful transition from school to community life for all students as needed.
  • Maintains up to date knowledge of technology utilized by the district.
  • Must satisfy all job-related attendance requirements
  • A record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment.

Availability of Position: July 1, 2025

Salary Range: $80,610. - $108,889.
Placement on the salary schedule is commensurate with education preparation and work experience in the field: 230 - day contract.
